17.01.2022 Last week on those very hot days I had numerous calls from people about bee swarms, upon visiting the places it was merely bees after a water source, on a nor...mal temperature day a bee hive needs 1 litre of water but on days like today and tomorrow they need 2 litres or more so please if you find bees on your property dont panic, you probably have water they are looking for. If you could all leave out some water for these great creatures it would bee awesome, a simple water dish is just the bottom of an old pot plant filled with water and then put some sticks or other things for the bees to land on so they dont drown. . #beesneedwatertoo #savethebees #hotday #tbbyard #thebasinbackyard @ The Basin, Victoria, Australia

11.01.2022 This is one of my favourite times of year, there’s loads and loads of great fresh produce available to preserve and there’s no better way to preserve than makin...g jam, jams lock in all that great flavour and goodness in the fruit and there are plenty of sugar free ways to make them. Over the past few days we have collected 2kgs of fresh blackberries on our walks around The Basin so we whipped up a great black berry jam. So far we have made Apricot, Strawberry, Strawberry and Rhubarb and this blackberry. What are you waiting for? Get into the kitchen and make some jam. #homemade #jam #homemadejam #preservingtheharvest #tbbyard #thebasinbackyard @ The Basin, Victoria, Australia

10.01.2022 Well after all my ranting I finally got this girl to bed for the next year, they say time moves faster as you get older so hopefully I wake up in 2020 tomorrow.

06.01.2022 GARDEN TIP: Have been working in the garden today and just finished scrubbing the secateurs and grafting knife. I am showing you this because most of you will ...be putting your secateurs etc away without as much as a rinse? That blackened buildup on your equipment may contain fungal/viral/disease that you will transfer to whatever you use them on next! Its a good habit to get into to give them a scrub with some warm soapy water and either a scourer or steel wool before you put them away each time you use them. Make sure you also give them a wipe or squirt with methylated spirits to disinfect them between plants when you are out in the garden this will reduce dramatically the infections your plants get we are the worst for spreading disease and this is the cause.
