11.01.2022 Do Not Forget To Hope Poet: John McLeod 1982 Do not forget to hope Though Time spins fleeting on... There is a place for all To view the promised dawn When Life's full test have run Like rivers to the sea Do not forget to hope And happy be. Do not forget to hope For even when one's life Seems burdened down with care And melancholy strife Remember how the gulls Soar beautiful and free? Do not forget to hope And happy be. Do not forget to hope Nor rise above the gloom All colours, as they say, Are needed on Life's Loom, And 'dark before the dawn' Is truth that all may see? Do not forget to hope And happy be.

11.01.2022 At times it is apparent that we are involved in making decisions that have ramifications for our grandchildren and on to their grand children's lives and beyond. In fact concerning the wellbeing of our planetary home. Such is the case when deciding about the processes and sites for storing Nuclear Waste. Please join us on Thursday 27th Feb at 6:30pm to hear information about the current situation and perhaps just as importantly, to consider the consultation and decision makin...g process when making such signifcant commitments. Please pass this information on to your friends and contacts who may be concerned about the issues surrounding the safe storage of Nuclear Waste.

06.01.2022 CHANGE OF SPEAKER FOR SEMINARY OF THE THIRD AGE 22nd October 2020 - TOPIC: Buddha Travels West Philippa Rowland has had to withdraw from Thursday’s session... which she greatly regrets that she has to do at such short notice. Instead Jonathan Barker will summarise and reflect on the contribution of Professor Peter Abbs who has traced Buddhism’s path toward becoming immersed within Western culture We are glad to offer a refund to those who have registered expecting to hear Philippa Rowland. NORM HABEL - on behalf of the Seminary of the Third Age planning team

06.01.2022 Dear Friends, Regrettably due to COVID-19 all Effective Living Centre events, including Seminary of the 3rd Age and Poets Corner, have been cancelled until further notice. We have been monitoring the Government's advice regarding COVID-19 and have made this decision out of concern for everyone involved with ELC.... Staying connected: As a community that values connection and inclusion COVID-19 presents very specific challenges. We recognize that social isolation is very real, and being together is vital to the human spirit and psyche. While, the Government has requested we undertake social distancing, they are actually referring to maintaining physical distance. At this time, more than ever, we need to find ways to increase our social connection while maintaining physical distance. We will therefore increase our ability to use technology to communicate and stay connected. We will increase our communication via the use of email, the ELC website and the ELC Facebook page. Please like the Facebook page if you havent already. Refunds Toreigh in the ELC office will arrange refunds for any tickets already purchased to cancelled events. Friends of ELC We all hope this situation will resolve quickly and ELC will be able to resume holding events. However, in the event this isnt the case we will contact people with Friends of ELC memberships. ELC Office: The office will be closed to walk-ins and volunteers until further notice. However, Toreigh will continue to work Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. If you wish to contact the office we ask that you do so via email or phone. Separating ourselves at this time is hard. It goes against most of what we say and do. We are about social inclusion, not dislocation and isolation. But it is incredibly important that we see these short-term disruptions as an act of love toward one another, especially as an act of love to the most frail and vulnerable amongst us and society. Showing kindness, checking in with one another and praying are all things we need to do right now. Thank you for your understanding. Michaela Tiller Chairperson ELC Management Committee Sarah & Dave Williamson Ministers Christ Church Uniting Wayville.
