19.01.2022 CONFESSIONS OF AN EDUCATION ADDICT So as some of you may already know, I have begun studying for a practitioner certification with equi-tape. Which means I didn’t even last a full year of not being a student Thankfully though, I am still working full time whilst completing this course! My introductory taping kit arrived today and I’m super excited to start practicing! ... I’ve been interested in dabbling in kinesiology taping for some time now... and after starting my certificate with equi-tape, I’m glad I took the opportunity to study this modality in more depth rather than just try my hand at it. 09.01.2022 Well, that’s a wrap for 2020! I’m now on holiday until 4th January, with lots of horses already lined up for treatments in the New Year! I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all of my clients, old and new. After finishing university last year and committing to Effectus full time, I didn’t really know what to expect. This year has been difficult for everyone, but as a small business owner with COVID looming over our heads, it was particularly stressful at times. Despit...e this, I’ve had a fantastic year and have loved watching my career grow I’m sure all of you already know, word of mouth is absolutely KING in this industry. Most of my new clients that I’ve met this year have got in contact with me through one of my existing clients, or seen a glowing review on social media. So thank you to all of those who have taken the time to provide feedback on my services, or recommended me to a friend. 04.01.2022 In the last month or so, I have met many new clients and have gained many new followers on this page! So I thought I had better introduce myself to all of these new faces! My name is Kate Doran and I started Effectus Equine in 2017! I think my passion for helping horses and my thirst for an understanding of their body began in a way that most therapists will relate to. I was a young girl with a horse, Rosie, who was struggling to meet the physical demands of being a ridden ho...rse. With the help of Rosies therapist, we were able to improve on some of the issues we had been battling. By paying attention to the patterns in Rosies body, we were able to bring the absolute best out of her and as her owner it optimised the enjoyment I got from the time I spent with her. Working with an equine sports therapist was the difference between the constant frustration of setbacks and being in-tune, understanding and empathetic of her needs. It wasnt long before we started progressing faster than we could have imagined. At the time, I was in my final years of high school and Rosie was beginning to reap the benefits of frequent body work. This saw my career aspirations swiftly change from Law to Equine Sports Therapy. Ive always enjoyed problem solving (and I believe Im quite good at it). Growing up, I loved puzzles, cross words and sudoku, or really anything that was mentally stimulating. Naturally, I wanted my future career to be something that engaged me mentally and brought new challenges each day. Thankfully, I find working on a horse, and drawing ideas from the patterns I see in their body, much like putting the pieces of a puzzle together. Similar to a puzzle, while doing body work on a horse, you need certain pieces in place before you can start to see the bigger picture. Most importantly, like all of my clients, I am just another horse owner. Regardless of how much I learn about the horses body and develop new techniques to work with, Ill always have my own hurdles to overcome. I relate to my clients on a level where we are all constantly working to optimise our horses health and welfare, whilst trying to pursue our own dreams! I want to be a part of horse owners journeys and assist them in achieving their dreams, while also giving them the tools (or puzzle pieces!) to best understand their horses body.

03.01.2022 A follow up on yesterday’s post... the results speak for themselves! I pulled off the decompression taping that I applied on Mani, and the result has honestly shocked me. In less than 24 hours, the texture of the underlying soft tissue has become much more continuous and supple to touch. He’s far less reactive to palpation and today’s ride showed some positive and extremely interesting improvements.. To say I’m thrilled is an understatement. This is an old injury site on Man...i that I regularly do bodywork on, and I feel I’ve found the perfect modality to compliment his treatments. I am SO EXCITED to be bringing equi-tape into my work. 02.01.2022 Its no secret... the way to my heart is to provide feedback after your horses session Heres one from this week that put a smile on my face Thank you Linda, for taking the time to provide such a glowing review on my services I met Kate for the first time on Monday when she came to treat my 18 year old boy who was extremely sore and struggling to walk without dragging his back legs. Instantly I felt very comfortable with her and knew my boy was in good hands. Kate...s very warm and approachable, in short she has an excellent bedside manner. Kate got to work on Boo, taking time to assess his needs, started gently gaining his trust, before getting to the pointy end. Kate talked me through what she was doing and why, by the end of his session she had loosened up his sore back muscles and he was walking with more freedom. Kate took time to show me how to do some exercises to use on my boy and followed up with a detailed report including diagrams of his problem areas and touchy points.
