24.01.2022 Meet Aina, one of the EGCBI based in Sale for the year... "Completing my Internship in EGCBI is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Here, you are treated as part of the team, very well supervised & taken care of. Working in the Emergency Department in Sale Hospital is a priceless experience. I was quite nervous on my first day of work, as I did not know what to expect. With the tremendous supports from the supervisors, nurses and EGCBI team, I feel very much supported throughout my journey as an intern here. Working in ED has really enhanced my confidence & clinical decision making skills. It really is a wonderful journey here - to be a part of the EGCBI team. Feel free to PM me if you guys have any questions!"

16.01.2022 Meet Kelvin one of this year’s interns... Hi Everyone, my name is Kelvin and I consider myself to be possibly the luckiest, if not the happiest medical intern in Victoria. Originally from Singapore; I undertook my basic medical training with the University of Western Australia. Despite the fact that my partner was also starting her internship in a nearby hospital; I was quite hesitant and nervous about commencing my medical internship without my close friends from WA. Little ...did I know that I was very blessed to be one of the 7 EGCBI interns. Our orientation was more than just mundane house-keeping lectures. It started off with hospitals and clinics tours to meet both those who were at the front as well as the back of the scene (Clinical supervisors, HR managers, Pathology scientists etc). We also went out for lunches with previous year interns and ended the week with a fabulous boat ride at Lakes' entrance. What more can I ask for?! My current ED rotation requires me to work 8 days in a row, which took me quite awhile to adapt to, but in return, I get 6 days off which makes me really tired of resting actually! LOL. The work culture is fabulous here, our supervisors are always there to give us support and confidence in our clinical decision making - I really do feel like a real doctor, making a difference in people's lives. Every now and then, our program director and manager would catch up with us over a free coffee - just like student doctor days - making sure baby doctors like us are doing fine. PM me if you would like to find out more about EGCBI!

15.01.2022 Our first monthly education evening for the year with some additional suturing training from Dr Bob Irungu with everyone getting valuable practise and teaching in several different suturing situations. The monthly 3 hrs of debrief, dinner and education is a great bonus to the training provided in both hospitals and the GP clinics. Great group of interns with a highly skilled trainer.

13.01.2022 As he gets near to completing his first rotation here is the first impressions from Andreas Hendarto 'I think BRHS has shown me the spectrum of possibilities that a rural generalist-led hospital can do - as a surgical intern I've always been amazed at the broad spectrum of GP-led procedures and operations admitted into the ward. At the same time it's shown me that more independence and a smaller staff does not mean a compromise on quality of treatment - in fact it forces you to acquire knowledge just near or outside your typical expectations. At the same time, a smaller cohort of interns and HMO's also means that collegiality develops easily, so not only am I enjoying my rotations, I get to enjoy them with a tight-knit group of friends!

04.01.2022 A great start to 2018 with a fantastic intern orientation week as they undertook skills training , learning logistical information and some team building time. Now for beginning their careers as doctors with their first rotation. A passionate, enthusiastic and committed group of young doctors joining the region.
