22.01.2022 Definition & benefits of RMT. Definition. Systematic assessments. Treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue of the body. Assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. -> It’s performed to create favourable conditions for the body to return to normal health after injury.... . Benefits. Reduces stress Remedial massage has been found to reduce both physical and emotional stress by affecting neurohormones that regulate behaviour and emotions including elevating endorphins and decreasing cortisol levels. This produces a number of mood-enhancing benefits and can have positive flow-on effects such as reducing depression and anxiety, improving sleep and concentration, and boosting energy levels. Corrects postural issues Many of us spend a large part of our day sitting, which leads to postural stress that tends to manifest in our neck, shoulders and lower back. By assessing and monitoring individual clients, remedial massage therapists can design customised treatment plans that address such postural issues. Using techniques that lengthen and stretch the muscles and relieve tension, remedial massage therapists help to balance and realign the body, improving our posture and counteracting the negative effects of sitting for prolonged periods. Increases joint mobility and flexibility Remedial massage therapists can use a number of stretching and mobilisation techniques that help improve circulation, loosen muscles and ease tension. This not only helps reduce pain and stiffness but also increases joint strength, stability, mobility and flexibility. Boosts immunity Remedial massage has been found to stimulate natural killer cells, improve lymphatic drainage, boost lymphocytes and lower levels of cytokines. This boosts the effectiveness of the body’s immune system, helping it to fight off disease. Improves sleep and concentration By relaxing the body, reducing muscle tension, improving circulation and reducing stress, remedial massage can effectively and naturally promote a good night’s sleep, helping to increase mental clarity and alertness. . . #remedialmassage #massage #brisbanemassage #brisbane See more
17.01.2022 Standing or sitting for long periods of time can take a toll on your muscles. To prevent or reduce stiffness and pain, try simple office stretches throughout the day. Perform these stretches several times throughout the day to help keep your muscles from feeling sore and tight.

13.01.2022 The good news is that a Remedial Massage can be a great tool to help you through the winter season! . The benefits of massage therapy during winter should not be overlooked, and may be exactly what you need to make it through to spring: . 1. Boost Your Immune System.... Winter means colds & the flu spread like wildfire but massage can help your body fight these by boosting your immune system. This is through increasing the lymph flow which is loaded with lots of white blood cells which then go and fight infections around the body. . 2. Helps Dry Skin. As the humidity drops in winter the cold, dry air makes the water in your skin evaporate quicker, making your skin drier. The oils and lotions used in massage contain lots of vitamins to nourish & hydrate your skin making you feel better on the inside & out! . 3. Improve Your Circulation. Your circulation may need a little help if your hands and feet are always chilly or if you’re having some aches and pains in the colder weather. Regular massage can help by enhancing blood flow and body warmth, which in turn increases the flow of oxygen around the body. . 4. Say Bye To Winter Blues. Massage encourages positive changes in the endocrine system where hormones are created. These changes decrease cortisol levels (a stress-related hormone) & increase oxytocin levels (the happy hormone) leading to the release of serotonin and endorphins, relieving the stress and enhancing your mood. Bye, bye winter blues! . 5. De-Stress. Waking up when it is dark and getting home from work when it is also dark can add extra stress into our lives. Some time out for a massage can really help boost your well-being & help to reset the balance in your life by aiding the release of stress. It will also help to improve your sleep to give you more energy during the busy winter months. . . . #brisbanemassage #eightmileplains #eightmileplainsmassage #eightmileplainsphysiotherapy #wintermassage #massagebenefits @emp_physio_massage See more
13.01.2022 Which type of sports massage do you need? ‘Pre-event’ or ‘Post-event’? . As an athlete or sportsperson it is very important to implement pre event and post event sports massage into your training program and preparation. . Whether you are a professional athlete or a sports person at a high level of intensity and looking to improve your conditioning and enhance your performance, ideally you should already be including deep tissue massage as part of your weekly training regime ...as a preventative measure before leaving it too late and using it as injury rehabilitation. . Pre-event massage is used prior to a sporting event/competition/marathon etc in order to warm up and increase blood flow. Techniques used would be friction, stretching and effleurage to achieve these goals. It require deep tissue techniques should occur no later than 48 to 72 hours before the planned exercise event. . Post-event massage is designed to aid the athlete in recovering from the activity; reduce post-exercise soreness; and re-establish range of motion and blood flow to tight muscles. It also can give the athlete a big psychological lift. Before administering the massage, allow the athlete to cool down and rehydrate. . . . #sportsmassage #brisbanesportsmassage #brisbanemassage #massage #preeventmassage #posteventmassage #brisbanesport #eightmileplainsmassage #eightmileplainsphysiotherapy #eightmileplainsfitness See more
