17.01.2022 Guess what I’m making?! . . For those of you wondering where all the pops have been hiding, here’s the story: Mr pop freezer motor died a horrible death in the last big storm, so, the new motor was chopped to size and installed! Yay! The thing is, this motor turned the propellor so hard, being 1000x the revs of the last motor, and it was like a miniature version of the ocean in a cyclone. ... Not ideal. Although, I still did stick one of my popsicle moulds in to try, but yes, my calculations were correct, and salt water went everywhere, including inside the mold! So, a voltage regulator was ordered right away, was finally delivered and installed, and so far, it’s in tip top shape, all serviced and ready for action again!! WOOT!! . . Fun fact: adding copious amounts of salt to water (diluted) allows for a colder temperature (-18) without solidifying. Essentially it’s mimicking the ocean, by creating a current of constantly moving salty water, so that the water doesn’t freeze solid. It would freeze into tiny ice pieces but still move. The ocean, however, also has moving currents of warmer waters to thank, for keeping it moving. Pretty cool! . . So basically, what this enables me to do, is freeze pops very quickly (like, 20mins) without the formation of ice crystals in the pops! That’s why they’re so darn smooth and creamy! . . Something else I learned through this process, albeit the hard way first time around, was that there is a limit to how much salt will dilute into water before it just won’t dilute any more! Remember this, because it could save you hours of hard labour and stirring. Gah. So many hours. So much stirring. . . The end. . .
