24.01.2022 An exciting project we currently have on the drawing board. This one is an entry statement update and outdoor beach bar addition to the Ocean Park Aquarium located in incredible Shark Bay. This little design study shows the transition from existing, to hand sketch, to 3d modelling. Stay tuned for more on this one as we prepare to submit for DA!

24.01.2022 A few concept 3Ds from a collaboration project with Element Drafting & Design PTY LTD that unfortunately didnt make it to construction. Located in Mt Lawley, the beautiful heritage front section of the existing home was to be retained with the new contemporary addition to be located at the rear taking advantage of spectacular city views.

23.01.2022 What a start to 2020. Were luckily enough to be enjoying our last few days off before getting back into it next week. Not the case for so many all over the country - having lost property, habitat, wildlife and human lives. It really is unfathomable. Its great to see so many individuals and businesses getting on board to support those in need however they can. A great initiative that well be exploring is Architects Assist - Pro Bono Disaster Relief Service which aims to connect Architects & Building Designers with those whove been affected by the fires to provide free design services and assistance. Providing good design solutions for those living and building in Bushfire prone areas is something that were extremely passionate about and hope that in a very small way we can help prevent such horrendous events happening in the future.

22.01.2022 Shark Bay Shack Thinking of all of our friends, family & clients located in WA’s regional towns who’s lives & livelihoods have been heavily impacted by travel restrictions. We hope that these will soon be lifted and once again we can visit these incredibly beautiful places.

22.01.2022 Update on our Park Orchards (Melbourne) project: Its now out of the ground (after battling the rain/mud) and looking great! Brickwork is well underway with remedial work to the existing framed floor structure in progress. Hats off to the team at Renovative VIC for the impeccable work so far

22.01.2022 Great concept we completed for a heritage home in Guildford - with the proposed contemporary addition completely concealed from the street to preserve the integrity of the heritage facade. The addition utilises materials that take their cues from the existing residence but in a contemporary interpretation.

20.01.2022 Completed as part of the Perth Airport DFO development - this collaboration with Element Drafting & Design was for national shoe retailer Paul Carroll Shoes and utilised a combination of timber veneers, honed concrete, feature tiling, high gloss panelling & fabrics to achieve a stylish and contemporary yet comfortable and inviting space. Great project with great clients - expertly constructed by the team at Element Construction WA PTY LTD

20.01.2022 This is one of our favourite spaces and also one were lucky enough to call home. Polished concrete, timber veneer panelling, exposed concrete blockwork & expansive glass - all our favs

19.01.2022 Who else loves a secret room? Doesnt get much cooler than a hidden underground cellar/mancave in your own home! Recycled 100 year old bricks, recycled timber beams & exposed concrete Yuro building design Element Construction WA PTY LTD

18.01.2022 Sunday site visit

17.01.2022 Huge amount of progress at our Hamptons Additions project on the outskirts of Melbourne! Totally unrecognisable from the original building. Roof on, some more external brickwork - then all the work starts inside. Well keep you posted as this one progresses further throughout the year

16.01.2022 We have had to evacuate our studio (and home) due to the current Bushfire Emergency in our area which is ongoing and not yet controlled or contained. As far as we aware our home & studio are still untouched - but are hoping for favourable conditions today to assist the brave crews working on bringing it under control. As a result we will have limited access to email/phone for the foreseeable future. We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience & understanding during this time.

15.01.2022 The Marmion A great project in collaboration with Element Drafting & Design to extend and rejuvenate a very tired & heavily weathered beachside home. Using 100% light weight framed construction we were successfully able to totally transform the home & make the most of that incredible ocean view! The build was expertly completed by the team at Element Construction WA PTY LTD and totally blew away the client!

14.01.2022 Plenty of progress at our project affectionately known as The Farm in Herne Hill. Early on it resembled more of an archeological dig site than a build site - due to the large footings and slab thickenings being required to handle the clay site. Reinforcing steel is in and concrete footings poured - ready for the house slab pour later in the week. The vehicle shed & workshop are now complete, which will eventually be connected to the main house via a covered walkway and form part of the over dwelling. Hats off to the hardworking trades getting it done in the heat. Stay tuned for more updates

13.01.2022 New trainee, Phoebe at the YURO Building Design studio - needs to work on her coffee making skills #bringahorsetoworkday

13.01.2022 Great little addition on the drawing board at the moment giving this 70s brown brick beauty a well needed facelift and update

12.01.2022 On the drawing board! A collaboration with Element Drafting & Design, this beauty is a double storey family home located on a narrow & sloping block. This one will be timber framed and well be utilising some of our favourite materials as well as some new ones. Well keep you posted as this one progresses

12.01.2022 This afternoon well be attending the National Association of Building Designers 2019 National Design Awards - in which we have our project The Calais nominated for Best Residential Addition/Alteration $350k-$800k. Wish us luck!

12.01.2022 A bit of an update on the progress of our project in Park Orchards on the outskirts Melbourne. Great to see all the elements finally coming together as well as some excellent workmanship. Not far til the finish line now!

10.01.2022 Another day in paradise (Perth Hills) We love being able to call the hills our home but also understand the challenges involved in designing homes in Bushfire prone areas. #BAL19 #BAL29 #BAL40 #BALFZ

10.01.2022 Weve been extremely lucky to have been engaged to give the somewhat tired (and clearly well loved!) Ocean Park Aquarium in Shark Bay - a much needed and deserved facelift. The project involves the addition of a brand new outdoor beach bar taking in that incredible view (utilising a currently unused space) as well a more inviting & cohesive entry statement! Heres some before pics and 3d renders of our concept

10.01.2022 Too hot outside the studio today apparently

09.01.2022 What a way to end 2019! - A site visit and measure up for a beach bar & entry statement addition at The Ocean Park Aquarium in the breath taking Shark Bay . So many awesome materials & textures beautifully weathered from the harsh coastal conditions. Stay tuned for concepts of this one in the new year

08.01.2022 Were on holidays in Shark Bay at the moment - but also sneaking in a cheeky site measure and design meeting for an addition to a beach shack for some good friends. Not a bad view at all!

08.01.2022 Bit of a #beforeandafter to end the week. A much loved home - well & truly in need of an update. The design solution totally transforms this Tuscan styled 2 storey town house - with modifications to the front facade and internal living areas - breathing new life into the home. With a mix of industrial and contemporary materials and styling - its awesome to see what can be achieved with careful consideration and good design (and cracking clients of course!)

08.01.2022 Were thrilled with the progress of the preliminary concepts for the Shark Bay Shack additions. Careful consideration has been made to the surrounding landscape & climatic conditions to make sure the materials selected will work well but also how they respond to the harsh elements. Such a beautiful part of the world

08.01.2022 A big congrats to the team (past & present) at Element Construction WA PTY LTD for 10 years in business. Its been a privilege to be able to play a just small part in the journey so far. Looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years brings.

08.01.2022 Colour/Material Study . Its amazing how changing just one element can completely alter the look and feel of a facade. Its so great to be able to present 3D colour and material schemes to the client early on in the process to make sure theyre completely happy every step of the way

07.01.2022 Not a bad view for the Friday arvo commute between the studio & home #bout20metres #knockofftime #friyay #notraffic

07.01.2022 This concept - completed in collaboration with Element Drafting & Design - is very close to home - located in the Perth Hills with a BAL29/BAL40 Bushfire rating. Lightweight framed construction with low maintenance & hard wearing materials - perfectly suited to the natural surrounding bush land

07.01.2022 The best part of our job is getting the opportunity to create beautiful spaces for great people

07.01.2022 Concept: This one is a collaboration with Element Drafting & Design which involves a contemporary addition to an existing heritage home in Guildford. Retaining the heritage portion of the home as well as some well established trees on the site created a number of challenges but were thrilled with the outcome

05.01.2022 Possibly our most favourite YURO design to date - this is an awesome project we currently have on the drawing board - ready to submit to shire for DA. It’s been such a great experience working collaboratively with an incredible couple who’ve placed complete trust in us to interpret their crazy(awesome) ideas and dreams - to create something completely unique.

05.01.2022 We love a bit of texture! Tactile surfaces create warmth and personality in a space and ultimately make you want to spend time in it

05.01.2022 Awesome whirlwind site visit to Shark Bay - such an incredible part of the world. Looking forward to this project kicking off later on in the year

04.01.2022 We love using a combination of natural & manufactured materials to add texture & warmth to a space

04.01.2022 Who else loves a secret room? Doesn’t get much cooler than a hidden underground cellar/mancave in your own home! Recycled 100 year old bricks, recycled timber beams & exposed concrete Yuro building design Element Construction WA PTY LTD

02.01.2022 Our kind of scenery for a client meeting

02.01.2022 That’s a wrap for 2020!We’ve been fortunate to work on some great projects with some incredible clients (swipe to check out just some of the highlights). After a roller coaster of a year in so many ways - we’re thankful to be able to live & work in this beautiful (and healthy) part of the world and look forward to good things in 2021. Cheers

02.01.2022 Shark Bay Shack Thinking of all of our friends, family & clients located in WAs regional towns whos lives & livelihoods have been heavily impacted by travel restrictions. We hope that these will soon be lifted and once again we can visit these incredibly beautiful places.

02.01.2022 ##SUBMITTED## After a thorough design process weve now submitted our colab project with Element Drafting & Design for Development Approval. Definitely pushing the boundaries on the planning side of things with this one - so looking forward to working with the council for a favourable outcome

02.01.2022 Our office is officially back open after evacuating almost one week ago from the Wooroloo Bushfires. Luckily our property was completely untouched and we were able to return once the area was safe. The firefighters, emergency services and volunteers did an incredible job of getting the fire under control & contained in very difficult conditions and terrain - and we can’t thank them enough for their brave efforts. Unfortunately so many families were not as lucky as us and have lost everything. These pictures were taken on a short drive around close by to us - and show the absolute destruction the fire caused to not only homes but also to the native bush land. If you are in the position to make a contribution to one of the bushfire relief funds or wildlife protection organisations, hopefully they can get back on their feet soon.

01.01.2022 About 13 years on from the original construction and 3 years on from renovations to the cellar door at Olive Farm Wines in the Swan Valley, Perth Western Australia. All of our favourite goodies in this one - natural Karratha stone, polished concrete, recycle & composite timbers, rust paint and colorbond standing seam cladding. All elements weathering beautifully but still as good looking as the day it was built
