In 1983, 3 groups of Salvadoreans arrived in Sydney, most of them where exiles running for their life,... some people started playing soccer at the hostel field, other joined the churches as some pastor visited the hostel. another group joined the solidarity movement to support the liberation movement back home.. but, what we all had in common was: that we ALL missed our pupusas and tortillas. So Alicia, Reina, Monica started making them out of polenta or another flour call sharp at any occasion, most of the times to fund a soccer team or to raise money for a good cause, the Aussies and south Americans where happy to join in, but they call them papusas. From them on until today is impossible to calculate a number of pupusas made in Australia by Reina, Nelly, Deisy, Rubidia. and all the people that once worked at El Salvador restaurant , but will probably go into many thousands, that's: without counting the many people who make them at the church or the other people who get an extra income from home making pupusas, To this point Reina has the largest experience in making them since she used to run El Salvador restaurant for 13 long years Reina continue today making them from home always using high quality products Her pupusas are well known for best quality. at 2014 and 2015 we took them to Avalon beach at the Latin american nor-them beaches festival, Aussies again took them on and eat a few thousands at the event So: thanks tho the effort of the Salvadorean woman's who never gave up the tradition pupusas in Australia are now known and being liked by many people (please note, Reina learn to make pupusas in Australia at the age of 22) J^A^O^P
