11.01.2022 Little things.....

11.01.2022 Hidden Gem - Top Cut Lake, Eldorado. If you're a local, you know. If you're not, you may drive straight past the Top Cut lake, about 1km past the township of E...ldorado, if travelling from Wangaratta. A dirt track off Woolshed Road will allow you to drive to the cusp of the lake. However, while it is definitely one for the post-covid19 bucket list, save it for those warmer months (we do not recommend a dip anytime soon!) #visitwangaratta #wangarattaandsurrounds #eldorado

10.01.2022 Such a beautiful time of year x

08.01.2022 Something bright for you on a dull day xx

04.01.2022 Henry (Harry) Power (1820-1891) was Victoria’s most notorious bushranger before the Kelly gang. From his base in the Ovens District, he held up travellers on th...e coach road from Mansfield to Jamieson, claiming over 600 robberies in one year. A young Ned Kelly was said to have worked as his accomplice for a time. Unlike other bushrangers, Power had a reputation as a man who was rarely violent. He never killed police or his victims. Ladies were said to be charmed by his manner as he robbed them of their belongings! Power was finally caught when James Quinn, Ned Kelly’s grandfather, claimed a 500 reward and led police to his hideout overlooking the Quinn property. In 1877 a group of Melbourne women, including Lady Janet Clarke, petitioned for his release. He worked as a gardener on the Clarke property until 1891. He later worked as a guide to the prison hulk Success, by then a travelling waxworks display. Power died the following year, drowned in the River Murray. Power’s prison register was on display for a time at Old Treasury Building as part of the ‘Wild Colonial Boys’ exhibition. You may remember it? A digitised copy can be found on our website along with the #prisonerrecords of many others. Search the green search box here: https://prov.vic.gov.au//register-male-and-female-prisoner

04.01.2022 Amazing shots @mugslulu from a recent trip to Barry’s Falls. Put this one on the bucket list for when you can visit (for now, #staysafestayhome). Barry’s Fal...ls is located between Eldorado and Beechworth and is a fairly easy 15 minute walk that is family friendly. Do your research beforehand as signage can be scarce. The falls can be accessed by Warbler Track off Neioff Road and water will be flowing after periods of rainfall. #visitwangaratta #eldorado #woolshedfalls #beechworth

02.01.2022 The beautiful Reedy Creek in full flow. It started raining while I was taking these pics. All the surrounding hills had low lying clouds. It looked so nice! Right now is the best place to enjoy this area because it's so green and fresh.
