23.01.2022 Grow Your Business Learn from Industry Leaders Team Management I first met the guys who run the academy while on holiday in Bali. ... I remember being at the gym doing a workout together and our paths crossed. I already knew who Greg was as I was already aware of his academy and company back in Perth. I introduced myself to him and we got to chatting, and over the course of the next week we hung out a few more times and got to know each other a little. I had been sub contracting to other electrical companies for the last couple of years and I was getting by but there was never any growth or improvement. I knew I wasnt going to be able to rely on it forever but taking the next step and starting a business seemed far too large of a step for me. I always had the same thoughts like I wasnt good enough or I wouldnt be able to find any work. I made it easy to find a way to talk myself out of doing anything which kept me stationary in my current position. Greg took the time to get to know me and my situation over those few days and got me to ask myself a lot of questions. He talked to me in detail about a few of the things I had personal blocks and issues with and hearing someone that was already successful in my industry telling me they can see Ill be able to make it too if I just do it. That gave me enough confidence in myself and over the next week after I returned back home I messaged him and said Im going to do it. That was 9 months ago now, and to look back from where I am now to where I was back then I am finally at a point where I can start to reflect on it all and take it in. Everything I have learned from this experience, the academy and network of electricians within it has been the foundation my business has started on. So many of the ideas and strategies have been implemented and I still have so many more that I am yet to start on. Ideas that have come from just talking to other electricians in the academy have turned into huge light bulb moments for me. I have employed my first staff and even during the covid-19 downturn I am starting to see my workflow increase to levels prior to it beginning. What a huge 9 months its been and cant wait to see where I am in a year from now. Thanks Greg, the academy and all the good members within it that have helped me get to where I am today!

22.01.2022 "I first joined the Academy about a year ago and I can honestly say its changed my life. I started out running my own business in 2015 and quickly realised that it was a lot harder and a lot different from what I had imagined. After slogging my guts out for 12 hours a day, coming home and then invoicing and emailing to wake up and do it all again the next day, it didnt take long for it all to fall apart. ... I spent the next 2-3 years searching for a better way of doing things and found there wasnt any real help for electricians running their own business. I moved about from week to week just making enough money to cover bills and pay myself and wondering where why there wasnt anything left over. By pure chance, I stumbled across the Electricians Success Academy Podcast and thats when everything changed. I started to pay attention to what they were talking about and it all started to make sense. After listening to the podcast for a long while, I decided to join the academy. In this year alone we have grown from a one-man-band to a team of 6. You want to place one side of the inside of the spanner flush and hard up against the bolt, then in the empty space on the other side jam a flat head in there. 19.01.2022 It can be frustrating when staff continually make the same mistakes over and over. This is often from lack of clear processes and systems. Once you have a clear picture of expectations documented then you can build a training system around how to up-skill your existing and new staff to meet the standards you have set. The biggest mistake I see most electrical business owners make is they try to verbally train staff as they make mistakes and this can cause serious moral and ...self esteem issues. Best to be clear from the start so they know themselves when they have made a mistake and all you have to do is ask the question: Have you followed our company process for this? Work WITH them to better understand what is required to be a high performer for your team!

12.01.2022 Hiring a cheap or unlicensed electrician is like getting your car serviced thinking it is all good because the mechanic said they serviced it. When the reality is they didnt complete a full service because they are running cheap and have to cut corners to make a profit. They dont notice your brakes are completely worn.... They didnt check your airbags which are damaged. And they didnt report your seat belts are frayed and arent working properly. What happens when you crash your car in this situation? Then think what happens when you cant let go of a live piece of electrical equipment because you hired a cheap electrician that installed that equipment without an earth because it still works and shell be right mate. Didnt tell you that circuit was not protected by an electrocution protection device. Didnt even bother to notice that their was no main earth or equipotential bond. Not all electricians are equal. 04.01.2022 Just because an electrician has finished their apprenticeship, doesnt mean they are capable of what you need. Sometimes you may get lucky but more often than not, you will need to continually invest time and attention into your staff. Documenting exactly how you like things to run allows you to provide a system that you can test, measure and change if required. ... Having no process will cause frustration to management and often lead to your staffs confidence being negatively affected. If you are currently ad-hoc tell your staff how to improve or where they went wrong, this is the danger zone. When done right, you can ask THEM, where did you go wrong? They should be able to look at the process and it be clear to them what they missed.
