17.01.2022 Almost everyone in the gym lifts 'heavy' (with lowish reps), it's something I see every day. Try... reductions in load with increased volume. 16.01.2022 I get loads of female clients and gym members expressing their concerns about strength training and weights with the fear of 'looking bulky'. There are numerous reasons why all people should do stregth training in addition to their cardio or other preferred forms of exercise but my big three are: 1. Increased metabolic demand. As muscles are trained for strength they get 'hungry' because they need resources for repair. So... they burn up more calories (resulting in a reducti...on of excess body fat). 2. Improved ability to cope with stress. As the body gets stronger it also enhances the ability to cope with increases in blood pressure. So you are able to deal with stress faster and more effectively. 3. Decreased morbidity and increased lifespan. Greater strength during old age reduces risk of falls, improves efficiency, and facilitates independence. It also decreases the risk of chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer. All round great news. If you haven't tried it before, give it a go. 10.01.2022 Another great video from the Prehab guys! As they explain in the video it is commonly known that a dynamic style warm up is more beneficial for muscular performance. So before you go doing your normal static/passive stretches before exercise. Jump on a foam roller or do a more dynamic style warm up like this instead.... Small details like a correct warm up can make a big difference if you are trying to work hard and avoid injuries

01.01.2022 Injury prevention and stability is really important in all joints. Ankle injuries are so common especially in team sports like netball and soccer... these exercises are a good idea for anyone playing sport or exercising on uneven surfaces.
