13.01.2022 [[Is your computer running slllooooowwwwww?]] So slow it is getting annoying or affecting your ability to work? There are many possibilities as to what this could be, however, one thing that many don't think of is it could be because it's running the wrong virus/malware protection software! The image below shows the difference in memory utilisation of a new client's PC just by changing the virus/malware protection program. This device needs to be left running full time and ...was found to get very sluggish frequently needing it to be restarted. After putting monitoring software on the device we saw that it was climbing up to nearly 100% memory usage. We found it to have two different programs handling virus and malware protection. This can tax resources because much of the data needing to be checked has to be double handled by the two programs. So on the 16th of November during a scheduled shut down, we removed the two programs and installed an appropriate single solution to tackle virus, malware and many more threats. Now the resource usage has stabilised rarely going above 50% usage. No more production halting restarts required! If you are experiencing performance issues on your computers get in touch now, it's not always straight forward.
