19.01.2022 It’s time to say goodbye to the last remaining piece of my childhood. As I sat waiting to hand the keys to the new owner of my lifelong childhood home, I sat and reflected. So much loss for my dad when loosing my mum and seeing her everywhere he turned and raising a daughter who was the image of her in so many ways. The anxiety and depression that this house kept, but also the joys it brought too. I remember being about 3 years old sitting on this verandah and seeing in my mi...nd how I could create dance in my head, the beginnings of a choreographer. It blew my mind at the time and still does now. It was my escape place to sit, and boy did it bring out some very clear ideas of how I wanted to go forward in my life. I remember moving back here in my early 20’s while my dad lived in New York and bringing Benji home for the first time. This was his first home with me . Playing on the street with friends who were neighbours, getting stung by a bee for the first time , eating cold porridge and having my measurements taken on a wall every few months (for those who new me as a kid, you knew how quickly I grew) . The renovation for sale was a big step for my dad and although he may never admit it, it was hard to watch the home he knew for over 40 years change. But it’s time for us to move on.
