24.01.2022 If you haven't seen the documentary - that sugar film, it comes highly recommended. They have developed an app to calculate the amount of sugar you are consuming on a daily basis. Its all about the hidden sugars especially in foods that you may believe to be healthy. Check it out and take the challenge, you may be surprised how much sugar you consume on average.

23.01.2022 Broccoli Sauce Ingredient list - 1 x large fresh broccoli - 3 x garlic cloves - 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil... - 1 x tsp cumin - 1/2 diced onion - 3 x tsp lemon juice - 1 x cup chicken or vegetable stock - salt and pepper to taste Method Cut broccoli into medium sized pieces. Steam or gently boil until tender. Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until a puree consistency is formed. Place puree into a saucepan and cook for 3-5 minutes on a medium temperature until desired thickness is achieved. And its ready!! Tastes great over grilled chicken and even better toped with crumbled feta or quark. Enjoy!

A valuable resource to keep is a book called the chemical maze for when you are unsure. Most importantly reduce the amount of foods that need preservatives in them! Eat real foods.

Most families/people only have 10 meals that they generally rotate between.Finding healthy and substantial recipes that you enjoy (generally from trial and error) is a vital part of changing unhealthy food habits. Planing to have left overs from the night before helps so lunches don't let you down :).

09.01.2022 Healthy caramel slice Free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar. Base: 1/2 cup of medjool dates... 1.5 cups of almonds 1tsp vanilla extract Caramel: 1/2 cup of unhulled tahini 1/2 cup of maple syrup 1/4 cup coconut oil Pinch of Himalayan salt Topping: 3 tablespoons of raw cacao 3 tablespoons of coconut sugar 1/2 cup coconut oil Method: Grind dates, almonds and vanilla in a food processor. Mix will be slightly sticky, press down into a tray lined with baking paper. Set in fridge/freezer while making the caramel. Blend all the caramel ingredients together in a food processor, pour over base and place back into the fridge/freezer. Wait 15 minutes and start on the topping. Melt in a saucepan the all the topping ingredients, stir well. Let cool for 5 minutes and pour over the slice, place into fridge/freezer until set. Cut into small squares and enjoy.

Matcha blocks the ability of digestive enzymes to break down fat, which is a necessary process for fat to be able to enter our cells. Anthocyanidins help to reduce systemic inflammation, reduce LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and lower blood pressure. Strawberries contain large amounts of vitamin C - about 8 strwaberries contains your daily recommend amount (1000mg). As well as, being rich in fibre, folate, potassium and manganese. Strawberries are in season in Queensland at the moment. Great to have in your smoothies, as a sweet snack, in salads and wonderful for children.
