13.01.2022 Being wrong makes you powerful Most of us - myself included - are fucking petrified of being wrong. Its one of the things I fear most (more than sharks even).... I have worked on it over the years but for a long time I was unwilling to put myself out there, to write or post about my opinions, because I couldn’t deal with the fear that someone would challenge my point of view I didn’t want to look stupid, dumb or not smart. I didn’t want people to know I was wrong. Wrong equaled rejected unworthy not good enough. And the story of this fear kept me from being successful for years. I know what it’s like when you start out. Theres fear of being judged by PTs who have been around longer than you. Ive even seen this happen, where some PT who’s been around for 10 years feels they have the right to point out how dumb the newbies are, how uneducated or how they dont get it. Like they weren’t making it up as they went along at the beginning either. Ive been wrong ssooooo many fucking times over the past 17 years. Here’s some of the fitness shit that I’ve said that’s just plain wrong: - Everyone should do squats and deadlifts - Your hormones can be predicted by your skin folds - Everyone should be taking zinc, magnesium, multivitamin, Vit D etc all the time - Supplements are needed for fat loss - You should lose fat slowly and only with a small deficit - Calories dont matter And the list goes on and on Even after a constant commitment to learning over the past 17 years I will say things now that will turn out to be wrong in the future. It’s just a fact. So here’s the deal... Accept that you WILL get it wrong while becoming an elite personal trainer. Accept not just that it will happen, but that it is the ONLY way to become elite. The best in the business now, have most likely made the MOST mistakes over the years, which is why they’re the best. Give the best coaching you can with where you are at and do it LOUDLY and with CONFIDENCE. If you turn out to be wrong - WHO FUCKING CARES. This is where true power lies - in being willing to get it wrong and to learn from mistakes. The End. 06.01.2022 Clients dont need more information to make a change - theyre fucking swimming in it! Information doesnt bring transformation. Transformation comes when you can get your client to break their current beliefs about what it takes to get leaner, stronger or bigger.... If your client deep down has a belief that conflicts with what you are telling them, then you lose and your knowledge is worth nada. If you get your client to smash that belief then they can implement the tactics or strategy (diet, exercise or lifestyle stuff) and finally see a result. Belief > Information > Result is the flow. Oh, and if youre not making the money you want - the same is true for you. The End.
