19.01.2022 This is my Christmas runner in summer and winter weave. It is woven with warp of 2/12 cotton, a pattern weft of 2 threads of 2/12 mercerized cotton and a binder thread of 2/30 cotton. It took 5 hours to rethread the dummy warp, five hours to wind the new warp and beam it and seven hours to weave it, but I am happy with the result

11.01.2022 A weekend of weaving- a scarf and a wrap. Very tired after the double weave wrap that I needed to finish as the application for the leaders exhibit at Convergence closes today. 2 very long days. Both in hand-dyed silk. .

10.01.2022 Some of Heathers pieces at the exhibition. These are all enamels. Enamel is powdered glass fired many times for a few minutes each time to form a layer of glass which will adhere to cleaned copper... brooches require 4-6 firings, but wall pieces could have as many as 25 firings to develop the design. Both sides of the copper are coated in enamel. They are red hot when they come out of the kiln...somewhere between 750 and 900 degrees C depending on the colour and thickness of the copper. The true colour develops as they cool...

09.01.2022 Exhibition is now up. As we are in summer clothes this week, it's too hot to sell winter things--especially in the Palm House, which is designed to be warm!!!

06.01.2022 Weekend Weave a Scarf on a Floor Loom Workshop I have a lovely weekend with 3 new weavers and 2 more who have been weaving for about 12 months. Everyone went home with a scarf that they had woven on floor looms. I had put the warps on during the week. They learnt how to fill bobbins and quills, could try various shuttles, worked on their beat and selvedges, learned how to use a temple and replaced ends with ribbons for a decorative effect... I had 5 wide smiles as they cut off their pieces...

06.01.2022 Three double weave scarves, now needing washing.... all fringes twisted and ends cut back.... Hand dyed 20/2 silk at 40 epi. Lots of colour changes...fairly sl...ow to weave when joining in all the colours. Made them as samples of 2 block weaves for the Grampian Textures "Double Weave is not Double Trouble" workshop in March 2017. See more

05.01.2022 Off the loom this week Throw in plain weave, with inlay of various yarns to add interest and aid in colour blending. It is mostly 1 and 1 colour blending of the mohair weft on a wool warp. I lay all the mohair yarns out in colour sequence and then add the linking yarns. Slower to weave, when adding little bits and pieces of yarn! Thinking of using it as one exhibition piece for the Craft Xcellence exihibition at Craft NSW 104 George St The Rocks Sept 20-Oct 9 2016

05.01.2022 Learn to weave classes in Epping, Sydney starting soon! See https://loomsandspinningwheels.com.au/pages/workshops

05.01.2022 Open Studio this Weekend August 27-28 10am-4pm Threading up the new Delta loom for this weekend! I'm working in 8 ply with my limited time...for a Swedish lace throw at 3 ends per cm........ Very easy to place the ends in the raddle at the top of the Louet looms and wind onto the back beam. With this thicker yarn I am finding it very easy just to pull the threads from the raddle to thread through the heddles, tying off each group as I go.

04.01.2022 Feeing rewarded.!! seeing new weaving as a result of a workshop is always a treat. Here is Sally's frost crystal twill cushion following an Advancing Twill workshop
