09.01.2022 So, what is meant by a structured or systematic (and CUMULATIVE) program?? Thank you for Phonic Books Ltd for this great explanation and diagram. This diagram ...shows just the beginning of phonics instruction (what should be covered in the first year of school). Another ~80% of words contain more complex spellings and will have more than one syllable...so explicit phonics instruction should continue well beyond the first year! https://www.phonicbooks.co.uk//why-structured-reading-ins/ The readers by Phonic Books align with the sequence of the Sounds-Write program (by no coincidence!) so provide the perfect opportunities to *apply* the alphabetic code.

09.01.2022 And thats a wrap!! Merry Christmas to you all, stay safe and enjoy the well deserved break! Thanks to all my beautiful students and parents for an amazing year despite all the 2020 disruptions!! See you all in 2021!
