24.01.2022 SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Q : How often do your electrical appliances need testing ? A : The testing periods for your workplace varies depending on the environment in which you work in.... Construction equipment that moves from site to site is considered as hostile equipment, therefore they require quarterly testing (3 monthly). Workshops and other manufacturing or assembly workplaces require half yearly testing (6 monthly) as they are also considered hostile. Services environments for example food and beverage where the cords ARE subject to flexing have been deemed as a yearly testing area. Whereas office equipment such as computers, monitors and the equipment used around them that are NOT subject to flexing have been deemed as a 5 yearly test area. The following table outlines all the testing and tagging requirements. Including hotels, motels and hire equipment etc. This table also outlines the RCD Testing intervals for all areas.
