23.01.2022 It has been a HUGE few days of work by our amazing committee - with over 15 bags of leaves collected, play equipment pressure hosed, spider webs swept, sandpits filled with brand new sand, Thomas the Tank got a face lift (face literally lifted off the floor), toilets cleaned, tables sprayed and everything set up to a COVID safe standard.... And we are now ready to open our doors!! We are so excited to reconnect with our 2020 members that we decided to offer free sess...ions set in our beautiful leafy garden - keeping everyone safe but also connected. 23.01.2022 Calling any willing volunteers who can help us out this Saturday morning :) We love our leafy gardens at Hohnes Road Playhouse but without a bit maintenance they can get a little TOO leafy! Working Bees are a great opportunity to help out the Hohnes Road Community as well as meeting some of the other families. Many hands make light work! Join us between 9.30 and 12pm on Saturday to help us prepare for the start of the term. Jobs include raking and gathering leaves, leaf blowi...ng our paths, pruning and trimming trees and cleaning equipment and playhouses. Bring any gardening equipment you feel may be helpful (Gloves recommended). We appreciate all your assistance!! Partners and children are welcome (especially if they come with 2 helping hands!) All volunteers will need to sign in via QR code on arrival.

20.01.2022 Great news from Playgroups Victoria! To make up for lost playgroup time due to Covid19, and to encourage new members to join playgroups to help them get back on their feet, Playgroups Victoria is giving you 6 months free membership! As we look at hopefully reopening at the start of Term 3, this has come at a great time to welcome back our members and for those who are considering joining our wonderful playgroup.

19.01.2022 Thanks to Nillumbik Shire Council for our new books for our book corner. My 4 year old loved reading them with me and they led to some great conversations! The rest of our little members will love reading them next year when we reopen properly

19.01.2022 We are looking for a new cleaner to start with us this year, and would love to employ someone local. We are hoping to find someone who is happy to work for 1 hour twice a week (times and days flexible) to help keep us and our members COVID safe without breaking the bank! All equipment and supplies provided.

18.01.2022 Just an update on the Covid19 situation and Hohnes Road Playhouse. Recently restrictions have eased on community groups and you may be wondering if this may mean Playgroup will be back soon. We are following Playgroups Victoria's lead, and their advice is to hold off until Term 3 and we will assess at that point. We are all keen to get back to Playgroup (and parent chats) but the health and safety of all our children and families has to be our main priority. We will keep y...ou updated with any changes. We are taking enrolments for Term 3 at the moment (no invoices will be sent out until we know when we are opening). If you were part of a playgroup session in Term 1 your spot is secure . If you want to change sessions or enrol for the first time you will need to contact us on [email protected] to lock in a place or to join the waiting list.

15.01.2022 Due to statewide shutdown of all non-essential services, Hohnes Road Playhouse will be closed as of tomorrow. We will keep you up to date as we find out what will be going on for Term 2. If you are currently enrolled in playgroup, your place on your chosen day will be held for you in Term 2. We will not send out invoices for Term 2 to current members until we know more about if and when we will be able to run, and the fees will reflect this. We thank our members for their sup...port at this time! Unfortunately we continue to accrue costs even while closed so will depend on our wonderful members returning to us once it is considered safe!! We wish you all the best over the next few weeks. 15.01.2022 Amazing effort on Saturday from a small but motivated team of workers. 25 Bags of leaves in under 90 mins and the inside of the outdoor kitchen even got a sponge bath! Thank you to all involved! Enjoy your first week back members!

13.01.2022 Our Christmas raffle 1st prize last year was a range of Little People Toys. One of our members @Alice Parsons won it, and without hesitation, donated them all straight back to us to be used by our playgroup kids!! This week the first one has been put out into rotation! The School Readiness virtual presentation will involve three clinicians presenting on the skills children require when commencing primary school. This session will also provide strategies and recommendations on how to best support your child in this unusual period of time.... 11.01.2022 We are excited to be heading back to 'COVID normal' playgroups in 2021!! After a year of limited social interaction Hohnes Road Playhouse is a haven of friendship, support, fun and conversation for both you and your child. We are running a free trial this Friday 11th 9.30 - 11.30am for you to come in and see what we are all about. Our sessions are currently outside only, but we will show you through our indoor areas and answer all your questions.... 10.01.2022 After much consideration and discussion, the committee have decided that the Coronavirus situation is too unstable at the moment for us to reopen our playgroup for the start of Term 3. Ultimately the safety and health of our members is of the utmost importance to us, and we do not wish to take any risks. We will reassess the situation in a few weeks time and keep all members updated. We thank you so much for your continued support of Hohnes Road Playhouse, and we really hope that we will be able to all be back at playgroup sometime in the near future. 09.01.2022 Another wonderful resource to help us out during isolation. This one is from Playgroups Victoria and gives 20 days of play. Remember these are ideas and suggestions to help you fill your days at home without the welcome distractions of playgroup, swimming lessons and play dates. No one should feel pressure to be entertaining and educating their children at all times of the day. If some of your days are full of Pinterest worthy crafts and others are purely pjs and screen time,... then that is OK. As long as you have the opportunity to share a laugh with your family, and you and your kids are hanging in there mentally, then you are winning at this. Self isolation is a tough deal no matter what, but with young children depending on you it is even harder. We feel you! I have no idea how people are managing to work and look after little people at the same time!? If you are running low on ideas this is a great guide which gives you a range of activities on a set topic each day. 08.01.2022 After much consideration we have regretfully decided to postpone our Messy Play day currently on 21st March 2020 until a future date. In a time of such uncertainty, our priority is the health and well-being of our young members and their families. Given the nature of messy play we would be unable to ensure our venue was kept sanitised, and do not want any risk of contamination. We thank everyone who purchased tickets, and volunteered to help. Start 2021 off in a positive way by visiting us!... We are offering a free open morning for non members and their preschool children on Thursday 21st January. Come down to Hohnes Road Playhouse to find out about our playgroup sessions. Have a tour of our facilities and ask questions to a committee member. Most importantly, let your preschooler play in our leafy, garden, explore the toys and facilities set up inside, and meet other local parents. Our facilities are set up to be safe and secure, and we are following all current COVID guidelines.
