08.01.2022 we love chocolate There are a couple of constituents in chocolate that can be responsible for our cravings and using it for comfort. If you are noticing your chocolate cravings are specifically around menstruation you could actually be craving magnesium. Magnesium helps to relax cramping muscles so makes it strongly indicated for menstrual cramping and it can be our bodies asking for it. ... Theobromine and other flavanols in chocolate improve mental performance and calmnes and reduces mental fatigue. It is also suggested to improve mood and enhance cognition. This is what I commonly refer to as eating my emotions. The constituents of foods are always interacting and changing the chemistry in our body. When we know what our body is saying and understand our cravings we can take note and implement long term strategies to address the core reason behind the craving.
01.01.2022 "It is safe for me to relax" is one of my favourite positive affirmations at the moment. As adults we most often have to be our own biggest cheerleader. Sometimes we have support, sometimes we don't but we are expected to be able initiate, follow through on and complete tasks. Quite often our biggest obstacle to this is our own mindset. It is easy to get caught up in our own negative emotions and thoughts and we burn through the day in ...a huff and a grump because our thoughts swilling around in our head create our mood. Relentless negative mental talk does have flow on effects to our mental health and physical health. Our thoughts and feelings create our level of stress and heaviness which affects not only our hormones, immune system and nervous system but how we treat ourselves, care for and nourish our bodies. This is why I love positive affirmations. And at the moment I am very lizard brain reactive trying to navigate the to do list around an 8 month old. This reactive lizard brain in stress is what we call our fight or flight mode and is designed to keep us safe from lions and tigers and bears oh my! And because at the end of the day our body doesn't feel like the stress has been resolved (the to do list never goes away) it can make it hard to wind down and fall asleep. This is where my current mantra of "it is safe for me to relax" has been so helpful. Firstly I'm reminding myself and actively feeling safe and secure which in itself allows for relaxation but also focusing on moving the tension out of my mind. This positive affirmation can be used in conjuction with writing an actual list so you can let go of your to do list without fear of forgetting and journalling which can help you process and underlying emotions and thoughts See more
