23.01.2022 CALMING TECHNIQUES . Everyone needs a tool box of techniques to calm the nervous system when we are feeling anxious, overwhelmed or highly stressed! . Some simple techniques include:... . BREATHE WORK - the simplicity of slowing and focusing the breathe is a very powerful way to calm the nervous system! Most Fitbit and Apple watches have a breathing notification to follow! Or simply count your breaths, a nice and slow equal count in and equal count out! Eg. 2 seconds in, 2 seconds out . MEDITATION - Guided meditations can be a great way to distract a busy mind and allow you to focus on breathe and visualization. There is amazing research to now back the benefits of meditation. I love an app called Insight Timer which allows you to choose your length of meditation (5-10min ones are a great place to start). . NATURE - get outside into nature, the ocean, the rainforest, the park, a walk around the block, whatever just get some fresh air and sunshine! Added bonus if you can ground yourself with bare feet on the ground! . DISTRACTION - whenever you’re feeling wildly overwhelmed distraction is an amazing tool! Whether it’s removing yourself from the situation (sorry I’ve just got to pop to the toilet I’ll be back) or doing a different task or just using your breathing or meditation to distract yourself! . REDUCING SCREEN TIME - when you have a busy mind, your phone is going to make it 10x busier! Reduce any negative social media pages that make you compare yourself or create self confidence issues! And most of all reducing screen time before bed means less blue light which allows you to sleep better! . What else do you guys use to calm yourself?! . . . . @matteacarson See more

23.01.2022 CUPPING . When muscles are tight or in pain, there is usually stagnation in the meridians, whether that be blood or Qi stagnation will depend on the type of pain. Cupping is great for those suffering from NECK or BACK PAIN or anyone with tight muscles in general . This process uses small glass cups (as pictured) or suction devices that are placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation by moving the congested blood and bring new oxygenated blood flow to the area. ...It also draws other toxins to the surface removing cellular waste to maintain healthy muscle tissue . Although people have the perception it’s painful (usually from the dark circles it leaves) it is an extremely relaxing treatment that you walk away feeling great from See more
22.01.2022 GOALS & REFLECTION . How often do you reflect on your life, your job, your relationships etc? . Im personally a GOALS human, so I set my goals and then this makes it very easy to REFLECT on how Im going. Whether Ive reached those goals, or not quite there yet, I check in and see how I can help further myself... . This is always multifaceted, I never just write goals for work, I will always include personal goals, relationship goals and health goals . This allows me to keep ontop of a great work life balance and not neglect any areas. If I reflect and notice one area is lacking, Ill adjust my mindset and ensure I focus on regaining that balance . Some do daily goals, monthly goals, six month goals or yearly depending on how motivated you are. I find monthly ones keep me on track, any longer and Ill forget about them and as usual the beach is my fave place to reflect! . So how often do you set goals and reflect how youre doing?! . . . . @serajwright See more

19.01.2022 HEART . In Chinese Medicine each organ has an emotion attached to it, if we suppress these emotions it can start to have a physical affect on the body . The HEART organ pertains to the emotion of JOY and happiness ... . On the flip side when not experiencing joy or repressing it, we can to begin to experience feelings of depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, heart palpitation and more . The Chinese keep it simple and say when this happens we must add more joy to nourish the heart energy . I know its easier said than done. But a good question to ponder is.... . WHAT BRINGS JOY TO YOUR LIFE? . Theres no wrong answer, everyone is so different! For some it may be people, place, experiences, material things, the list is endless . For me the things that bring most joy are those Im most grateful! . I hope this weekend you experience joy in some way . . . . @flourish_n_flow See more

13.01.2022 ANXIETY . Just a friendly reminder your when we spiral into anxious thoughts, majority of the time your mind is LYING to you!! . The situations, scenarios or conversations we mock up in our mind, is the minds defense mechanism... . We know this because we imagine scenarios in our head a million times over thinking the worst case and then its totally fine once youre there and youre OKAY... . We stress over having to have a certain conversation with someone for two weeks, where our mind has told us it would end up with the world crashing down and it is completely fine once youve had it and youre OKAY... . It compares to past experiences and anxiety gives us the worst case scenario and tricks us into thinking this will happen again! But its most likely hardly ever the case and we need to RETRAIN the brain that these arent the only outcomes! . As much as you can trick yourself into thinking it will be a negative outcome, YOUR MIND IS POWERFUL and you can also convince your mind into thinking it will be a positive one! . Which I get it so much harder said then done but try every time one of these negative thoughts enter the mind, remind yourself this is the ANXIETY talking NOT ME and reprogram to a more positive outcome or thought! . This wont change over night but when you persist you will start to slowly believe it and recognize the lies! See more

12.01.2022 SLEEP TROUBLES . It can be the most frustrating thing when sleep patterns are out! Taking ages to fall asleep or waking constantly through the night - it makes you wake up feeling gross and usually fatigued! . So lets take it back to the basics of sleep hygiene to try and give you the best chance of a good nights sleep:... . CREATE A NIGHT TIME ROUTINE - by having a similar bed time and routine your brain will start to associate this as a time to wind down . REDUCE Blue light/screens a minimum of 1hour before bed - blue light can affect our melatonin (sleep hormone) production and make it harder to fall asleep . Create a RELAXING ENVIRONMENT - you can diffuse some oils to calm, some put on some relaxing music or sounds to switch off, make sure youre a good temperature etc . CALM THE MIND - practicing some breathe work or meditation is a great way to quiet the mind if you cant switch off (you can also practice this if you wake during the night to fall again) . Remember consistency is key!! HAPPY SLEEPING . . . @temps__mort See more

09.01.2022 NEEDLE PHOBIA . If the only thing stopping you from trying Acupuncture is being scared of needles, please dont fear! . The needles we use are sooo fine, they compare them to the width of a strand of hair!... . I always ask but please always let me know if you have a fear of needles, so I can make you feel as comfortable as possible! . Usually we do a face down treatment to begin so you cant see the needles and we also practice breathe work before hand to calm the nervous system! . Ive had endless patients psych themselves up to come in because theyve had such a fear and then once I put a needle in they just laugh and go oh is that all it is . Once the needles are in, majority of the time you completely forget where they are because you cant feel them! . So if thats all thats stopping you! 04.01.2022 MENSTRUAL CYCLE . As young women in school unfortunately we weren’t given enough knowledge to understand our cycle - instead learnt to FEAR the thought of pregnancy if we ever had sex . Now as adults, the majority of my patients are shook to learn that there is a very small window where ovulation occurs - only lasting for 12-24hours, then the egg dies and reabsorbs. Not to mention there is a portions or days of the month where pregnancy isn’t even possible!... . I urge you as a woman to LEARN about your cycle, do some research, figure out what’s going on in your body! . Learn about the stages of the menstrual cycle and you’ll begin to see your energy should fluctuate around different parts of the month, libido should fluctuate around ovulation, moods may alter and you may feel more withdrawn or outgoing at certain stages!
