18.01.2022 I was SHOCKED reading the responses of these polls, and also I totally get it! We’re are not taught this stuff in school, yet our bodies are the only thing that will ever keep us alive! . 1. MYTH - doing core exercises does not give you abs. You have abs. They’re there. If they weren’t, you literally wouldn’t be able to walk, talk, sit, move in any way. Doing core exercises helps us STRENGTHEN our core, which allows us to lift heavier weights safer on other movements. Abs ar...e 110% made in the kitchen. If you want abs, get yourself into a calorie deficit and lose somebody fat . . 2. MYTH - lifting weights will only make me muscly. Lifting weights uses energy. When we burn energy in a calorie deficit, we lose body fat. When we do the exact same thing but in a calorie surplus, we build muscle. every time you move your body whether that is going for a run or doing some bicep curls, you are always burning energy. I always tell my clients to opt for the energy burning activity that they enjoy most! If they want to gain muscle or lose body fat that comes down to their diet and a few slight tweaks we make to increase or decrease exercise volume . . 3. MYTH - too much protein will make me get bulky. Protein is a basic core macronutrient that every human being needs. When we have a sufficient amount of protein in our body, our cells repair faster, and we experience less cravings for sugars and carbohydrates . 4. TRUTH - I can eat anything as long as I am in a calorie deficit I will lose body fat. HOWEVER, this is not your hall pass to go nuts at Milky Lane. As said above losing body fat is about an energy balance. You simply need to consume less energy than what your body burns. This will mean your body will have to burn the energy stored on your body and hey presto you will lose body fat. That can be in the form of burgers and thick shakes if you wish, however you can almost guarantee that you will wake up every day feeling absolutely rubbish losing weight isn’t going to be a ok easant experience if you feel like a pile of sludge the entire time . 17.01.2022 Eating healthy does not have to be expensive (or boring) I LOVE a good creamy pasta dish. AND, I also know how crappy it makes me feel after.. This has become one of my GO-TO meals for a quick, easy, tasty, filling lunch or dinner and it’s SO CHEAP... I’m talking like $3 a serving...... Basmati rice (in a rice cooker) Poached Chicken breast (pop it in a deep cake tray and put an inch or water, then cover with Alfoil in the oven for 35mins) A dollop of pesto sauce A dollop of hummus. The hummus makes the dish ‘creamy’ and the pesto gives it that pasta like taste! Best thing about cooking this is I literally don’t have to do a thing... no stirring, no chopping, no turning, just turn on and leave... Let’s break the myth that healthy options are expensive to make!

06.01.2022 Let’s talk about CONDITIONING (and I don’t mean the cardio type) I mean our mental conditioning. The one that determines our long term results and whether we make changes for a season or a lifetime. And the one we’re often not aware of. . To get results you need a few basic things. A coach. Consistency. Patience. Discipline. Further than that though, you have an opportunity to change your conditioning too, which is going to have a ripple affect onto those around you (partic...ularly what you teach the next generation. . (Okay Tamara, what are you jabbering on about). Well... I overheard a conversation this morning that really concerned me. Nothing that was said was ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ (remembering that we all do the best with what we know), AND, what I heard gave me chills because I know there is a better way. . Imagine a woman playing with her child. Then imagine that child falling over and grazing their knee. Imagine a crying and upset child. Now imagine the woman reaching for her purse to pull out a bag of lollies. These were the words that followed... . ‘Here eat one of these, food makes everything better’ . I almost fell off my seat. Conditioning is sneaky. Conditioning is an obvious it’s hidden in these seemingly innocent habits we have no doubt picked up from our parents. . ‘Food makes everything better’ is what the mind believes so that child lives their whole life knowing that whenever they feel pain all they need to do is eat some food. Makes perfect sense to the logical mind right? But how true is this? Is there a better way to teach the next generation to deal with their problems? . Your conditioning may not tell you that food makes everything better, but I invite you to ask yourself what you are conditioned to do when you feel pain. Do you retract from the world to make it better? Do you work a little harder to numb the pain out until it feels better? Do you have sex to make it feel better? . Be aware of your conditioning because your conditioning will control your entire decision-making process .
