24.01.2022 A new chapter is about to start for Embrace Your Strength PT! Its now time to close the chapter with Roar fitness Jandakot, it has been a great experience and I have meet a lot of great people but it’s now time to move on to new adventures. 23.01.2022 Meet Daniel... Daniel has been training with Laura since July this year to work on his strength and technique. Even though Daniel is visually impaired he hasn’t let that stop him from progressing and improving. Very proud coach moment to see the progress he has made.. 17.01.2022 Shepherds pie With the weather cooling off it’s time to bring back the delicious pies, stews and roasts. Best part about these meals is they are easily prepared bulk meals and easy to freeze. Best way to bulk them up with vegetables also. Ingredients 500g beef mince... 1/2 onion 2 clove garlics 1 1/2 cup Frozen peas, corn & carrots 2x Cans mixed herb crushed tomatoes 1 large peeled sweet potato (boiled) 1/3 cup cheese (topping) Method Heat up the frying pan with oil. Add in onion until lightly brown, add in the mince and cook it through. Add the garlic and frozen veg, mix it until combined. Add in the crushed tomato and let it cook for 15min. In a pot add diced sweet potato and boiled until cooked. Drain and mash. In an oven dish add the mince mixer and then mashed sweet potato on top. Sprinkle with cheese and grill in the oven until golden brown. Enjoy

13.01.2022 Who doesn't love a good Long Mac or flat white on the daily!? I will admit, I definitely can't say no to a coffee date with good friends and banter. But over the past few months during COVID and leading up to it, my caffeine intake was creeping up to 3 or 4 coffees a day which was slowly effecting my sleep and increase of anxiety. Did you notice that during COVID you may of been increasing your caffeine intake just because you were Isolated, coffee was easy access or yo...u needed that coffee break from your partner or kids? Even though coffee has its benefits of providing antioxidants to your body, it will still effect the body's central nervous system when consumed. You may find your behaviour or routine changing. Caffeine can effect your body in a few different ways such as: - Sleep will become effected especially if you consume caffeine late in the day. The stimulus will keep your heart rate and blood pressure high. - Your Anxiety can be spiked due to caffeine effect the central nervous system which can put you on edge, which can also effect your depression. - Headaches can appear after high consumption of caffeine with no to minimal water intake during the day. This can also feel like you may be a little dehydrated. - Some people can get the stimulus from coffee which will give them that boost of energy to keep going. Some people may not feel that effect, especially if you have been consuming caffeine for a long period of time and a high consumption. If you find yourself feeling the effects more than what you would like, why not try a detox for a few months or reduce your daily intake and up your water intake. I have dropped my intake to 2x coffees a day and no caffeine after midday so my sleep can improve and my anxiety will reduce again. I also do not consume energy drinks or pre-workout drinks so my caffeine levels are on the lower side. If you are consuming other sources caffeine such as energy drinks, tea or soft drinks then maybe taking note of the caffeine intake from them also will put it into perspective. See more

11.01.2022 Reversing phase during Covid Isolation! Reversing phase is a great method to give your body a rest from a fat loss phase. It gives you a chance to re-fuel and nourish the body gradually to ensure your metabolism and your immune system is boosted after a fat loss phase. It’s a gradual increase of calories that will not increase your weight gain if done correctly. Bonus side is... if done correctly many people can gain muscle and lose fat while food is increased then what t...hey were before. Well my reverse phase went on a little detour from my original plans and as you can see from my photos I did put on a few CM and weight over COVID. BUT!!! I’m ok with it even though now starting my fat loss phase this week for my photo shoot in August with @teamround I have to buckle down and work a little bit harder to reach my goal. If you had asked me a year ago how I felt after being in isolation for 3months I would of been in a depressed state and feeling annoyed at myself for putting weight on. It’s a been a big learning curve for me to be ok and accepting with the changes that have happened with my body. To be honest I am grateful I went on a reverse phase because I wasn’t ready mentally to go into a fat loss phase mid January. Even though I thought I planned everything out perfectly from going into a powerlifting comp mid January and straight into fat loss phase two weeks later to prep for an April photoshoot. Nope no deal I struggled big time with my compliance especially with food and my training was average. I got so used to powerlifting training and macros/calories I wasn’t accepting the calorie drop that I had to do. But now it’s a new goal, fresh mindset and I’m motivated to be back at the gym and training hard. Throughout this fat loss phase I will be posting up my progress to stay accountable. Since Monday I am already feeling less bloated and happier. See more

Roar fitness Jandakot has opened back up for PT only during phase 2 and then phase 3 will be 24/7 again.... 07.01.2022 Isolation Routine During this isolation it’s easy to slip out of routine and then you find yourself going back to old bad habits e.g. staying up late, poor sleeping habits, binge eating, motivation is lost and you just feel lost! One thing that has helped myself and my clients maintain their motivation and improve their mindset during this isolation is starting a routine even if your not working from home. ... How to get back into a routine?! Write out what you want and need to get done, Set specific times and allocated time frame to get these done. Example routine; 1. 7am Alarm (Set a morning alarm so you don’t sleep in). 2. 7am-8.30am Morning routine: make your bed & then have breakfast or go for a 30min-1hr walk first than breakfast. 3. 8.30am-12pm Start that project you have been putting off. 4. 12-1pm Lunch time 5. 1-3pm Go back to your project or if finished set aside an hour or two to do some cleaning. 6. 3-4pm Afternoon workout 30min-1hr depending what’s programmed. 7. 4pm-5pm Down time read a book or watch a movie. 8. 5-7pm start cooking dinner & eat. 9. 7-8.30pm family time/ down time. 10. 8.30pm-9.30pm Bed time routine all electronics off and get ready for bed. Give it a go and tell me how it goes but also give a few few days trial. If you are struggling with finding your new normal, send me a DM and we can work through things together.
