This is a 10cm(4") open box - for supplies or embroidery tools. The lining is white with sewing words in black fonts. Students can choose the box size that they make, as the Fascinating French Florals workshops follow similar methods as far as using familiar simple stitches and the use of a large variety of threads ribbons and yarn...s etc. #SS2021 See more



16.01.2022 Liz Williams (Associate Prof. UNSW) takes us through her current exhibition at the Guild gallery - Gallery76. Don't miss this beautiful exhibition of Ari embroidery, at the Guild until Dec 6. In addition to the works featured here, we have some smaller works and beautiful scarves hand embroidered scarves by the CRC artisan community in West Bengal. Thank you Liz for your kind words, it is a pleasure to host these beautiful works at the Guild!

15.01.2022 Art Nouveau Glasgow Style Peacock Etui 16th 17th January 2021 withJenny O’Sullivan Embroider an intriguing small folded box or etui in wonderful art nouveau - Glasgow style peacocks using vibrant -coloured, silk, etoile and cotton variegated threads from The Threaded Needle to create lovely textured stitches. The embroidery will be highlighted with fine gold thread. The peacock designs will enthuse and inspire to create, as some of my previous students have said, not something to hang on the wall

12.01.2022 Very excited to be part of Sydney Craft Week again this year! We'll be hosting a 'Craft Up Late' from 5 - 8 PM Thursday 15th Oct. We'll be inviting people to change up their approach to stitch - bring some old clothes or tea towels to work on - and get creative stitching! A great event for friends or family members who've never tried stitching and would like to give it a try. Free event but RSVP / tickets essential to ensure we adhere to social distancing guidelines.

11.01.2022 The Embroiderers Guild New South Wales is a hidden gem in our area. One of their members, Lyall Willis, made these beautiful face-masks that I will be wearing n...ext week in Canberra. It was lovely to chat with the Guild Administrator Janet about the current exhibition in the gallery. It's a great #COVIDSafe venue for locals to visit.

Alanakar is a project by Liz Williamson in collaboration with an artisan embroidery community in West Bengal. Enjoy the use of texture, natural dyes and hundreds upon hundreds of French knots! 07.01.2022 Sharon Peoples and Belinda Jessup are coming to the Guild gallery - Gallery76 - this Thursday! Sharon and Belinda's beautiful new exhibition 'The Secret Garden' will open at Midday on Thursday, with a chance to meet the artists from 12 - 2 (please ring the office (02) 9743 2501) to let us know you are coming so we remain within our Covid safe capacity). Sharon will also be running a two-day design led (and socially distanced) machine embroidery workshop on the 26th/27th September - Spaces still available / numbers strictly limited. 05.01.2022 The members’ library at the Embroiderers' Guild is a treasure trove of information and inspiration! Whether you are looking for something specific or just browsing, you never know what rare and delightful book you may find. This small volume published 1949 provides amazing detail yet straightforward instructions and patterns for making exquisite cloth flowers. It is a nice choice if you have been inspired by the current exhibition Secret Garden, or if you are looking for a new skill to learn during isolation.

04.01.2022 The book Chinese Folk Designs, by W.M. Hawley is filled with hundreds of cut paper designs that can be used as templates for all kinds of embroidery. The Guild library is filled with design inspiration.

03.01.2022 Kumihimo Braiding with Judith Langdon 18th & 19th January 2021 Kumihimo is an ancient technique of braidmaking. Learn to make some basic braids using a marudai or braiding stool. The Japanese traditional marudai is a beautiful and expensive piece of equipment, but really good results can be obtained using much more humble items.... Embroiderers will find many uses for these lovely braids and enjoy the rhythmic nature of the process. #SS2021
