21.01.2022 Our first morning full of exploring, adventures and creating memories.

20.01.2022 A small business supporting another small business. The children loved using the sensory kit from Busy Bees FNQ. The texture of the playdough was so smooth and it smelt amazing!! What does playdough teach our children? ... Fine Motor skills Social/ emotional skills Creativity Language and literacy What are the benefits? Hand strenghtening~ Squishing, smashing, pushing, pulling, twisting, cutting... all the fun of playdough. Just the basic art of playing with play dough builds those hand muscles. Proprioceptive~ Pushing in cookie cutters or toys, pulling back a rolling pin, or even just squeezing, all provides deep pressure input for children’s joints. Sensorimotor~ A lot like a stress ball, play dough is a stress reliever. Tactical~ Everything about playdough at the most basic level is about exploring the tactile sensory system. Its all about the hands on experience

20.01.2022 Baking our afternoon tea..... cookies Cooking creates an opportunity for so many open ended conversations. Today Chloe and Henry asked if we could make some more cookies for when Santa comes. This led to many conversations about Christmas, reindeers, santa, presents and decorating our home for Christmas. I say ‘our’ home because I pride myself on making my home their home too. We can’t wait to eat our delicious cookies

10.01.2022 The children have been showing a strong interest in their colours, to extend on from their interest today we did a colour treasure hunt. Not only was this activity a way to learn and practice our colours, we also used our creative skills to draw a picture of what we found. The children came up with their own role play by assigning themselves a character, we had a pirate, mermaid and a shark.

01.01.2022 This morning the children had their first go at threading with the new bead kit. They looked at a card and followed a colour pattern. By handling a bead it encourages young children to use their pincer grip, strength and the small muscles of their hands. The children use their visual perception to scan the card and match the different coloured beads. By threading beads onto the lace it requires the childs hands and eyes to work together. It takes great concentration to hold the lace with one hand while threading the bead on with the other hand.
