25.01.2022 While I cannot always be this fast with my blog posts or my editing, a break in photographing outdoors lately had me staying up late to play with this gorgeous session from yesterday with the Leddin Family https://www.emmajohnson.com.au/leddin-family-2/

25.01.2022 Every day I look forward to going to work. And it all came from one question from my Dad. Why not?. For years I dreamed of following my creative passion, being my own boss and attempting something different to the norm. When I debated opening a studio, scared of the jump because I knew the investment would be large and that I would require a niche clientelle because my style would be different to anyone elses. Wondering if people would resonate. Every time I doubted myself... Dad would say why not?. It was always this question that kept me evolving, growing and creating. I am so fortunate to of had such a special life lesson that I hope to pass on to my children. Asking yourself why not? Instead of telling yourself your fears can open some pretty incredible doors. Just like the one to the studio I am forever grateful to my Dad and his wisdom and faith. I will never stop asking myself why not?. See more

23.01.2022 Getting super excited for wedding season, which kicks off for me next weekend! Flash back to last year when I was hanging out with Amanda, Daniel and their awesome bridal party!

23.01.2022 All about the glow with these two. A stressful week for these two ended in a magical day at The Wild Vine. Kate and Nick (team wild Vine) made sure that Georgia and Brendans day was just as wonderful - if not more - than originally planned. Well done to everyone involved! Makeup by my fave, Jane Foley Jane Foley, Florals by the amazing Amanda at My Floral Styling, Amber Williams Celebrant making the ceremony personalised and memorable, amazing John Kurt Videographer on the video and Marbull Catering filling everyones tummies with insanely good food!

21.01.2022 "Studio" can be quite a strong word. When most people hear the word Studio they picture big lights, backdrops, props and posing. Throw all of that out the window when you think of EJPs Studio. Think natural light, authenticity, love, connection and simplicity. Studio by definition means "A room in which an artist works". My Studio is a room for connection.

20.01.2022 If one thing Covid-19 has taught me is that some things we just cannot be prepared for. Nothing could of prepared me for the way that I would feel today. Steph and Josh went from plan A to plan Z over the last few weeks. While many may think that weddings arent essential, this one was. When you stripped everything back to the bare bones of what Steph needed for her wedding day, it was Josh, her Dad, a celebrant, and a very fortunate photographer which was me). Steph and Josh... needed their wedding to go ahead now, because Steph needed her Dad with her. And I can 100% understand that. So on their property, Steph and Josh were married with Hans (Stephs Dad), Scott (celebrant) and me (witness and photographer). We popped champagne, we rode quadbikes, we got amazing photos but most of all Steph had her Dad walk her down the aisle and her Dad got to hand his beautiful daughter to the man who will take care of Steph for the rest of his life. To witness that, to photograph it and to be a part of that is somewhere I never could of predicted my career would take me. It was a moment and a feeling I will never ever forget. Thank you Josh and Steph, words will never be able to tell you what it meant to me to be a part of your special day. See more

12.01.2022 Thank you to all of my beautiful clients, followers, supporters, family and friends for an amazing year! Because of each and every single one of you this year has been AMAZING. I love you all! Now I am taking some time to reenergise, ready for an even more amazing year next year. Even in the car trip here my creative ideas started coming to me, plans started forming and exciting things are already coming together. For creativeness to come there needs to be space. So I am doin...g just that. Taking space to get creative, plan and just plain get excited. I am also taking this time to smother my family in love and just soak them up. I want to be present for every sandy little toe, every shell hunt on the beach, every goodnight snuggle, all the card games, board games, story books, skating, lazy walks.. its going to be amazing. See you all soon - be present and enjoy your people x See more

09.01.2022 On the blog today - Ben & Claire at Kimo Estate Photographing for Claire and Ben was like all my favourite things combined into one day. We all know how much I love Kimo Estate. It feels like home for me. I shot my first ever weddings at Kimo Estate under the wings of my mentor at the time Dave Ferguson, who owns and runs Kimo Estate. Years later and exploring around the property of Kimo feels second nature to me and I love finding something new every time I visit. As we go...t to know each other prior to the wedding we realised we had lots of things in common - Claire and I both have a "Ben" who goes for the Bunnies and spends a lot of time yelling at the tv on Friday and Saturday nights. Claire is the kindest soul with the biggest heart and we share a passion for photography. Claire and Ben adore their family and their friends and that was their day was all about. I hope you enjoy their blog and you feel the warmth that I do every time I look over their beautiful day. https://www.emmajohnson.com.au/ben-claire/

09.01.2022 These two lovers will be watching their slideshow right about now..

06.01.2022 Wedding days tell so many stories. I often have people ask me if I get bored of shooting weddings, particularly do I get bored of shooting the same venues. The answer is absolutely not. Every single wedding is different and everyones story is different. Every time I go in to capture a wedding day I go in with fresh eyes, ready to tell each couple and their familys individual story. And that is what I adore about my job.

03.01.2022 Hands. A point of connection. They can tell you so much about a person. I am really drawn to sharing stories of my Dad at the moment so I will share another as to why I love hands so much. As a child and all the way through until my Dad got sick, my Dad had rough, calloused hands. Usually with some scrapes, some that made me cringe at how sore they must be. A black nail here and there. These hands were the hands of a very hard worker. Of someone who never complained. Of someo...ne who carried on even when the going was tough. But they were my safety. They were a comforting hand to hold. They were the hands that held my hand to cross the road. They were the hands that took over if Dad saw me with a sharp knife or to check the temperature of water. They were the hands on my back as I rode my bike without training wheels for the first time. The hands that picked me up when I fell. When Dad became sick his hands became smooth and soft. But I would still know they were my Dads hands and I will never forget the way his hands felt As a photographer, we are all influenced in our art by our own personal experiences. These personal experiences draw us to things. It is the reason we are all so individual in our thought processes. In what we are drawn to capture. When you choose a photographer you are choosing the way that photographer sees the world See more
