12.01.2022 * Repost - Naomi Korolew BOOM! WHAT DO BANS OF 100+ INDOORS MEAN FOR YOUR WEDDING? With the new announcement this morning I know a lot of you will be stresssed so I wanted to jump on and let you know what your options may be;... WEDDINGS UNDER 100 GUESTS INDOORS - You may be able to proceed, but we have to assume that 100 people indoors includes all of your vendors, bar, kitchen and event staff. Youll need to chat to your venue to get a true understanding of how many people would be inside for you planned celebration WEDDINGS UNDER 500 OUTDOORS - You should be fine to go ahead, but youre expected to practice social distancing. Possibly this is ok for a cocktail, but may be trickier for a sit down dinner when youre supposed to be 1.5m from other people at all times. ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS - ELOPE: Many couples are choosing to defer the party part of their wedding with their venue and elope instead. This typically means getting married outside at a park, beach or even a backyard in front of your most important guests; family members and closest friends. So, you still get married by your celebrant as you would have done. Your photographer and videographer still shoot your wedding. You still have flowers. You still drink champagne with your nearest and dearest - but you defer your party until next year. You may even opt to do a vow renewal ceremony at that time and wear the dress or the suit again. - POSTPONE: You can postpone your entire wedding until a later date. This is completely possible now and shouldnt impact you too much financially (contract and vendor dependant of course). However, you should be aware that many people are choosing this option and, because of the nature of the industry, many vendors will have already booked their peak dates for next year. This means that if you want to keep your wedding team (and the money youve paid) youll probably end up having to choose a Monday to Thursday date. I dont think this will be an issue as everyone will be in the same boat and it will be the new normal for a while. Finally - and this isnt intended to scare anyone, its just a reality - a lot of small businesses will go under in the next six months. That means some of your vendors simply may not still be in business if you postpone. This is just a truth. If youve chosen great vendors you trust theyll have continuity plans and it wont be an issue. But some vendors will fold and, in some cases, there may not be any money to refund to you - because you cant give what you havent got. The best thing you can do right now is chat to your vendors - and understand they are very busy! - and dealing with weddings that fall sooner first and get a good understanding of what your options are. Were all in this together!
