25.01.2022 17.6.19 A busy, cold, wet but certainly not miserable Monday! * A small world invitation to play using our waytoplay roads, our farm and Wobbel board. The children thoroughly enjoyed picking apples, visiting the hippo at the zoo and driving the tractor through the town!... * Continuing on with our exploration of Van Gough's "A Starry Night" painting the children discussed the colours and textures used. Miss E was very excited when we pointed out the moon in the painting! They then created their own versions using different shades of blue paint, white and black and some cotton tips on aluminum foil. * Our colour sorting, matching and classifying game using our Grimm's Rainbow, Grimms Friends and Grapat Mandala pieces turned into a pattern making game with the children creating their own masterpieces from the loose parts. * We heard the whistle blow and immediately stopped what we were doing to find Desi. We headed for the door and practised our Emergency evacuation drill. Once safely outside we called the roll and then discussed the need to call 000 for a fire brigade to make sure it was safe to go back inside. The children all practised using Desi's phone to call 000. * And of course we finished off the morning by cleaning up the ocean once again (this is an activity that the children have kept coming back to over the last week, working on their fine motor and manipulative skills and asking questions about the different sea creatures!). Thanks for another great day friends!

23.01.2022 Well, Earn and Learn is over for another year! I have been absolutely blown away by the support that our little service has received over the past several weeks from our local community. Every time we have checked our collection boxes there have been lots of little green stickers as well as the countless sheets, envelopes, ziplock bags and even some hiding in our street library!... We have more than doubled the points goal I had imagined!! Its been crazy and I am still counting stickers! So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to every one who contributed. The children and I really appreciate your help. If you have any sneaky stickers still hiding at home dont forget to send them in as every last point counts. I cant wait to share the new resources that this promotion will provide for the children in our service.

14.01.2022 In all the craziness i almost forgot... TODAY IS OUR BIRTHDAY!!! 5 years ago today we opened our home to our first Cuddlebugz Kids... In the last 5 years i have had so many little ones come through these doors... i have watched them grow and develop (some from as little as 6 weeks old) and some i have known when they were still inside mummy's belly! These children ALL hold a special place in my heart and I consider everyone of them FAMILY... At the moment we are struggling...... Financially, Emotionally, Socially... like every other Family day care and long day care service out there... I dare say this has been the most emotional, scary, overwhelming time in my career... But we will continue to open our doors and provide the best quality of care to our children because these children DESERVE it... They DESERVE my undivided attention, my love, my support, to feel safe and secure in order to develop and grow... To all my amazing families, both past and present, THANK YOU... Thank you for trusting me with your most precious posessions, THANK YOU for supporting me and checking on me through these crazy times, THANK YOU for being apart of our AMAZING journey so far... And to my own family... words cannot express how much i love and adore you all... We would never have made it this far without your endless love, support and encouragement. Here is to the next 5 years... HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUDDLEBUGZ!!!

06.01.2022 Love this Renata Thanks for Sharing!

06.01.2022 Please share... No doubt our children are aware of our current climate crisis and the bushfires ravaging our country. Although they arent able to comprehend the gravity of the situation they are aware of it... On a number of occassions at Cuddlebugz we had to explain to the children why we couldn't play outside due to the air quality in our own backyard... This short story published by the queensland government is an easy way to help children understand what is currently happ...ening. The use bright illustrations and easy to understand words to alleviate some of their fears and help them cope with what they are seeing around them... Hope All our friends around Australia are safe... https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2656320247778713&id=408876375856456

06.01.2022 I said i would and i did... We NEEDED something to celebrate... and reaching our 5th Birthday is an achievement to be celebrated! So whilst it was only my children in care today and my family, we still sang, we danced, we played with balloons, we had cake and snacks and we forgot about all the stress of the last couple of weeks... And whilst the children played with the balloons, they had no idea that each one represented a Cuddlebugz kid who has been through these doors, th...eir names written on their own individual balloon... THANK YOU...

06.01.2022 Some of our NAIDOC WEEK activities... Loose Parts, Dreamtime stories, symbols and even a paint up! We were extremely lucky that one of our mums could take some time out this afternoon to come and show us a little bit about her Torres Strait Islander heritage for Naidoc week... We started off with an acknowledgement to country, followed by a sweeping ceremony where we used the gum leaves to sweep the bad energy away (shaking it off to the side) and inviting good energy to rep...lace it. We then sat down and were introduced to a number of Torres Strait Islander Artefacts (tapping sticks, hunting boomerangs, Kangaroo hide and more) before finishing off with a paint up! We had our faces painted to symbolize Connection to Country, Respect and the Waterways... Thank you so much for coming Mrs H.. We loved it! *** Cuddlebugz Family daycare has limited vacancies available now and registered with All Areas Family Daycare scheme so eligible families are able to claim CCS entitltments. 04.01.2022 Our Halloween Extravaganza! We started the Afternoon we an afternoon tea and some spooky sensory activities here at Cuddlebugz... We had earlier in the week dropped letters in our neighbours mailboxes with an orange balloon, explaining we were trick or treating and if they wanted to participate just inflate the balloon and leave it for us to find! ... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! To all our wonderful new neighbours who left their balloons out and had some sweet treats ready for our spooky munchkins! And even those who came out to find us after forgetting to pop out their balloons! I can't tell you how much we appreciate the effort! The kids were THRILLED! And to ALL my families who made the effort to come along (both past and present) to our afternoon tea and stayed to trick or treat with us you are all incredible. 02.01.2022 Thank you George's River Council for putting on such a wonderful Opening Ceremony to commence the start of NAIDOC Week! The children and I absolutely loved it... - Traditional Smoke Ceremony with Uncle Russell and Brendan playing the Didgeridoo ... - Welcome to Country from Aunty Deanna - Dance/Choir Performances - Special Guest Speakers - We learnt about the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags We then headed into the library to sample some Bush tucker... the wattle seed scones were Devine! This outing sparked some lovely conversations and questions from the children which we will extend on this week back at our service... Why were the dancers painted and wearing no shirts? Why was there smoke coming out of the Bush? Why are the flags all different and why were the Aboriginal men yelling during the performances? Soooooo many extensions!!! P.s. how cute are our little munchkins all standing respectfully whilst the Australian national Anthem was sung?

01.01.2022 An insightful message from a fellow Family Day Care Educator echoing the thoughts and fears for thousands of us...

01.01.2022 So excited to head down with the children to this event next week. We will be immersing ourselves in Aboriginal Culture at The NAIDOC Week Opening Ceremony. Bush Tucker to sample, children's art and craft experiences and more!
