16.01.2022 Great news! Construction on our region's biggest solar farm has begun at Summerhill Waste Management Centre. The five-megawatt solar farm will increase the City...'s renewable energy generation capacity tenfold and save rate payers around $9 million over its 25-year lifespan. The solar farm will produce enough energy to run the equivalent of all the City of Newcastle's facilities during the day, which represents significant environmental returns for ratepayers and millions of dollars in savings. Covering an area of around five football fields on a capped landfill site which was once part of the Wallsend Borehole Colliery, the solar farm's 14,500 photovoltaic solar arrays will help reduce the city's annual electricity bill. Thanks to our good friends from the The Climate Council's Cities Power Partnership for joining us to mark the start of this great project. http://www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au//Building-begins-on-City-s
16.01.2022 Hey Newy peeps - Charlie needs to find a way home if you've seen a post about Charlie please let me know so we can pass the details on. Long shot, but we’ve been told someone in a Newcastle buy, swap, sell (etc) page has posted in one of them about finding Charlie bunny, but not sure which one... has anyone seen anything? Please let me know if you have! Recap - Charlie Bunny is a snuggle bunny. It’s off white (used to be proper white), with a little bunny head and pink nose. Has ‘Charlie’ embroidered in pink. It’s my niece’s favourite and she can’t sleep without it. She lost it at the #Newcastle500 Supercars - somewhere between the track and Wickham, probably along Foreshore Drive or that area. #VASC
