23.01.2022 This was an exciting 'live' to watch tonight... Coming from the opening night of the 2021 Port Lincoln Art Prize at Nautilus Arts Centre. I yelped at the announcement starting at 21:50. Go watch for yourselves! There are some kind words from John Neylon about my glass work from 29:08. "It's a layered work that has a lot to say but it's also a lot of fun."... Congratulations to all the participants and winners in the exhibition. Take a look if you're visiting Port Lincoln between January 15th and February 27th while the show is on display.

19.01.2022 COLD VS HOT Two pieces using exactly the same colours: one is room temperature and the other is attached to the blow-pipe upon creation, measuring at over 500 before we put it into a kiln to ‘anneal’ (cool down very slowly) Some colours react differently to heat! 19.01.2022 Today was going to be Adelaide’s sixth day of a six-day lockdown, but we were released early so I was able to still have my usual Tuesday morning glass blowing session With help from the fabulous Alex Hirst I spent the morning at JamFactory making a few groovy glass Prickly Pears Very keen to see how some of these colours look when they’ve cooled down from 600C to room temperature inside the kiln ... 18.01.2022 I’m very chuffed to be announced as one of the winners of the 2021 Bendigo Community Bank Port Lincoln Art Prize at Nautilus Arts Centre SCULPTURE AWARD WINNER Emma Young Prickly Pear with Yellow Buds Prize sponsored by Lincoln Estate Wines and Glen-Forest Tourist Park & Vineyard, judged by John Neylon.... John generously said about my artwork: I think the thing that makes her work interesting, and not just the piece itself, which is a very fine piece of glass art, but also that it’s referencing her Maltese ancestry, and so it’s a layered work that has a lot to say but it’s also a lot of fun. So enjoy that one! Exhibiting at Port Lincoln’s Nautilus Arts Centre until 27th February 2021. All welcome, free entry at all times. #portlincoln #artprize #nautilusartscentre #pricklypear #blownglass
