25.01.2022 Empress would like to announce that September's recipients of our $500 community fund is going to the North West Raiders. . . The North West Raiders are about to commence their second season in the league and need funds to help with first aid and training equipment, and we are very to be able to help out. .... . Lisa-Marie Mathews Vice President, "Meercroft Park in Devonport is the home of the North West Raiders with our team consisting of a diverse range of guys such as returned servicemen, students, hospitality workers to name a few. These players travel from all over the North West Coast to train and play in Devonport. Gridiron is one of the most inclusive games on the North West and we are hoping when the season begins in November that the North West community will get behind the Raiders in their journey towards the Tiger Bowl." Congratulations and good luck guys. Applications for next month are now open. Empress Community Fund.

07.01.2022 This months recipients of the North West Community fund are the North West Search & Rescue Team! The State Emergency Service NW Search and Rescue Unit are a small team of experienced members tasked with remote area search and rescue operations in the North West region of Tassie. They are who Tas Police call in when the weather is too awful for the Westpac rescue chopper to go out..! Cynthia Schaap - deputy unit manager says, ... "We would like to build a Patient Kit to use while rescuing or maintaining a patient’s health. We are often the first responders in remote areas and we perform first aid and maintain the patient before they can be airlifted out. The alternative to airlifting is stretcher carry operations. This is where we envisage the Patient Kit to be most helpful in stabilising a patient, making them comfortable and maintaining body heat while they are carried out (most notable stretcher-carry was a 17hour carry! - a long time to be injured and on a stretcher!)." Congratulations and don't forget we have jars on the bar at Empress Craft Beer with all donations this month going toward the NW search and rescue team. Applications are open for Nov.
