25.01.2022 Looks like Spring has arrived

25.01.2022 "What's in store for us this season?" Beekeeping or farming bees, like all forms of agriculture, is extremely dependant on the weather, the flora and the environment. We migrate our bees to maintain optimum health and if we're lucky we will also get a yield honey.... It's a bit like stock rotation on a farm, but our paddocks/apiaries are often hours apart. Each year is different, and with a La nina climate pattern predicted for our region, we could be in for a wet season. #ruralwomen #rurallife #womeninbeekeeping #womenbeekeepers #australianwomeninagriculture #victorianruralwomensnetwork #womeninagriculture

23.01.2022 It's almost Comb honey or Honeycomb time. Delicious on cheese platters, decadent desserts or on your granola. Get your Christmas orders in before the end of the month. #TheHoneyDrop #freshhoneycomb

23.01.2022 We love our new all natural honey and beeswax soap range. Available only at The Honey Drop, our Farmgate shop, open every Saturday morning 9-12. Thanks Gina from Gmade for this fabulous local collaboration

20.01.2022 Honey biscuits with home-made jam for morning tea @ the Honey Drop Open Every Saturday morning 9-12 #TheHoneyDrop #cookingwithhoney #homegrownandhomemade

19.01.2022 Summer Solstice marks the transition from the Bees' (and other animals too) season of expansion to the season of contraction. From today onwards Bees begin to sense the shortening days, and by Easter the population of the hive will have gradually decreased in preparation for the cold Winter months.

19.01.2022 There's no Soy Latte's available at this afternoons outdoor cafe, but I love the orchestra

12.01.2022 It is meant to rain (or snow) all day. What can you do? Come and visit us at the Honey Drop shop between 9am and 12pm! The fire is roaring and the shop is feeling hygge ... #supportyourlocalbeekeeper #localhoneyballarat #localproduce

10.01.2022 What a beautiful morning! Remember Doris, our adopted injured lamb, who surprised us with her 6th set of twins on Boxing Day. She continues to surprise us. Triplets this morning. This brings her lamb tally up to 15.

10.01.2022 As women Beekeepers one of our biggest challenges is the unavoidable heavy lifting A hive can range in weight from 20-90kg. We have a loader for moving larger numbers of hives but when we need to move just a few hives, a trolley and our tailgate loader make life easy. #womeninbeekeeping... #beekeeperOHS #Lycoloader See more

08.01.2022 We often use 4 frame nuc boxes when starting new hives. Once the young queen is laying and Nuc is full of bees, brood and honey, we then transfer these frames and bees over into a regular 8 frame box, always being careful not to injure the queen. #beekeepinginthebush

07.01.2022 Lew has been busy building Nuc boxes for this season's new hives. Now we just need to paint and add clips and doors. #familyapiary #springbees

07.01.2022 Fields of Everlasting Daisies and Chocolate Lilies with their delicious scent of vanilla. #australiannativeflowers #picturesqueapiary
