25.01.2022 SOIL COMPACTION Soil compaction is often unrecognized issue. Soil compaction and hydrophobic (anti-wetting) soil can occur hand in hand and quite commonly and i...s a major cause of dry patches or dead areas of lawn in WA. Especially when in conjunction with wear and tear and over hotter months, the ground tends to solidify or compress. This effectively diminishes the quantity of oxygen in the soil, essentially suffocating the root system of your garden, if this happens you will see areas where your lawn will thin out and eventually die. So, its a good time before the winter rains come, to aerate your lawns. You can do this by using a spiked roller, a pitchfork or even spiked shoes to break up the soil. An application of lime and gypsum can also assist in separating compacted soil, especially if there is a lot of clay in your subsoil. 17.01.2022 COVID 19 and enCore Aeration. Until notified further regarding Government restrictions I am still operating as normal with changes in place to protect your family and mine. Due to the nature of my service there is no need to me to come into contact with and part of your property. Where this is not possible all possible measures to prevent any contamination have been put in place. Soap and water and hospital grade hand sanitiser are my new best friends and are used before and... after entering your property. We can still discuss the best things for the ongoing health of your lawn (just at a safe distance).

10.01.2022 Bindii (Soliva sessilis), bindy-eye, carpet burweed, common soliva, field burweed, jo jo, sandbur , lawn burrweed, one hunga. Call it what you want, it's delicate in appearance but has a nasty prickle that will ruin you summer BBQ or kid's party. I am currently taking bookings to spray this terrible weed before it sets seed while controlling most other broadleaf weeds at the same time. Offering core aeration, vertimowing and weed spraying to most areas NOR and SOR. Licensed and qualified weed spray technician as well as core aeration and vertimowing.

06.01.2022 Three things essential to life, water, food and oxygen, by having your lawn aerated you are not only providing it with oxygen but providing a pathway for water and fertiliser to reach the root zone. The use of a quality wetting agent will ensure that our hydrophobic soil will hold the water where it's required. Annual core aeration promotes microbial activity in the soil, these organisms feed on dead plant material reducing thatch and adding organics to the soil while also encouraging a deeper root system.

06.01.2022 This lawn struggles under the large tree, it was cored, treated with a wetting agent, seasol and fertilised, 4 weeks later and now mowing at a much longer length so the grass can absorb more light under the tree. The results are amazing
