24.01.2022 Hi everyone! As you know, ENCOUNTER has been on hiatus since the end of 2016 however that does not mean that the leaders and planning committee have been dormant. We are looking forward to what God has planned for 2017 and to kick things off we are starting with a round of Badminton down at the Melb Uni Sport centre!... We will then quickly share what the first semester of ENCOUNTER will look like over a few snacks. So if you would like to come and hit a few shuttlecocks with us, bring your racquet ($4 hire at court) and $2 to contribute to court hire (also click attend on Facebook event page to RSVP). 2 Courts has been booked from 2-3pm so if you would rather sit it out, please join us for the second half to hear about the changes for ENCOUNTER in 2017. 09.01.2022 Hi everyone Thank you to those who joined us for Week 2 of ALPHA last Sunday. We hope you found it insightful and informative, especially with the evidence that was raised to support who Jesus said he was as well as his resurrection.... One of the recommended books was Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis: "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." We have two copies available for lending this week. We also have a few extra sets of notes from last week which you can pick up if you were not able to make it. This week, we explore the question: WHY DID JESUS DIE?
