22.01.2022 I have a lot of respect for Sage Canaday as an athlete. I also have a lot of respect for this self-analysis. It takes big balls to admit (or even see) the flaws in your technique when that's how you make your money. I agree with almost all of this (I do think you can shorten the stride by pulling into a figure 4 quicker, rather than letting the back leg hang out too far... Hit me up Sage...). When did you last video yourself running?

20.01.2022 I read an absurd article yesterday about 180 steps being an "optimal" cadence. I also got sucked into the comments section of people debating whether there is an optimal rate, or whether cadence matters at all. I'm only going to suggest that you test it out yourself. But here is a chart from some speed work I did this morning which shows the maximum power output per block of 10 steps. For me, the higher the cadence, the higher the power output. But try it for yourself.

Thanks for having me! --- Warm Up: 500m easy 500m nose breathing only... --- Main Set 1: -5 fast burpees -3 full breaths -max distance run on exhale hold. Three times each with as much rest as required. --- Main Set 2: 1km easy at 180spm 3 x 400m at threshold (high cadence, all out, while nose breathing) Easy 1km w high cadence. --- Cool Down: 5 mins inhale nose, exhale mouth, keep moving. 08.01.2022 It's great to see that the Federation is backing them in any way they can. For those who can't afford a private plane and a team of physios and S&C coaches, you can address: -hydration (drink water, consume electrolytes- I'm not telling you anything you don't already know) -massage (use your fingers if you have to, or get a lacrosse ball and dig into whatever you can without weirding out the person in the seat next to you)... -jet lag (think in terms of up-regulation and down-regulation. Breathing protocols can change your state easily and quickly while providing more oxygen for recovery. Before bed time at your destination up-regulate yourself and then down-reg, then sleep) If this is news to you your down-reg game isn't strong enough and you're leaving performance on the table.

Your general centre of mass is located around your pelvic region. Landing in front of this area while running creates a number of issues... . 1 It causes a braking effect that reduces your movement efficiency. 2 It slows you down. Imagine driving your car and constantly hitting the gas and then the brake over and over again. You wouldn’t get anywhere fast? 3 It subjects your body, from the foot up the leg to the lower back, to increased forces. 4 It results in you spending too long on the ground with each stride. This muscle contraction and muscle elasticity. . Ideally, you will land as close to under your centre of mass as possible. Now, we don’t want you to consciously try to do this as where you land is a direct result of hitting the points of performance of efficient run tech. Nail those things and you’re landing will take care of itself. .
