25.01.2022 Kangaroo Ridge Fire Update Fire continues to burn east of the Princes Highway South of Heathcote, North of Waterfall. The fire remains at ADVICE and there are currently no threats. Engadine 1 Alpha is returning home with 1 Bravo taking over for a few more hours this evening. Thanks to our crews for their hard work today! ... Abaroo Hazard Reduction burn continues to the West of the highway in this location. Significant smoke is likely to impact the highway. A wind change tonight is expect to push smoke to the north under the influence of southerly winds. This will likely cause significant smoke impact on the areas of Heathcote and Engadine. Remember Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke from entering your home. Remove washing from clotheslines. Ensure pets have a protected area. If you’re driving through a smoky area, slow down, keep your windows up and turn your headlights on. Don’t call Triple Zero just to report that it’s smoky. Save Triple Zero for emergencies. 25.01.2022 Today Engadine Rural Fire Brigade held an awards ceremony where some members were presented with a certificate, a cap and a pin to thank them for their efforts in the NSW bushfires of 2019/2020 . We thank the local member for Heathcote Mr Lee Evans MP, Mr Frank Zumbo (assistant to Federal Minister C.Kelly) and RFS Inspector Ugo Tolone for handing out the NSW Premiers Bushfire Emergency Citations and also handing out Long Service Medals to 2 of our members . Lucky for us we have a catering crew who put on a lovely lunch for all of us to enjoy after the ceremony .

10.01.2022 With steady winds from the north, smoke from a hazard reduction burn being conducted on North Head (Manly) is being blown over the shire. This smoke may persist for some time under this weather pattern. A small fire started earlier today in the vicinity of the clay target club off Heathcote Road, but was quickly brought under control by the NSW RFS brigades that attended. The Kangaroo Ridge fire at Sutherland remains under control. ... For live updates, we encourage community members to download the 'Fires Near Me' app and set up a 'watch zone' which will alert you to fires around a specified area.

07.01.2022 The weather is set to heat up significantly over the weekend and through to Tuesday in some places so please take the time to review your Bushfire Survival Plan and prepare early in case of fire!

05.01.2022 Smoke Hazard The Princes Hwy is being intermittently affected by smoke between Heathcote and Waterfall. At this time the road is OPEN. This smoke is coming from the hazard reduction burn being completed to the west of the highway, and periods of heavy smoke are causing moderate traffic impact....
