24.01.2022 Today we hit the streets for the first time in months on a community walk. Sadly the assistance dog staff were still working from home so the pet shop received our yummy thank you cakes instead. It brought lots of smiles to their faces.

22.01.2022 Oh my stars ! What an incredible excursion we have had today ! We began our morning as we popped our special excursion vests and hats on and got super excited for the adventure ahead. We sat down for a minute and had a quick little talk about all things road safety. So the Kookaburras turned on their special listening ears and off we went ! We were so super lucky to have Jared and Lauren (Quadeys Mum & Dad) join us today, so that meant that every kookaburra was in the extreme...ly safe hands of an adult. As we made our way into Engadine, it was so wonderful to see how great every single one of the Kookaburras were listening to all the instructions, but also all of the amazing things they were observing, whether that be flowers, birdies or LOTS of blue cars ! As we reached the post office, we sat down as a group to have a little look around. We had noticed that there was one very big RED box ! We spoke about how this is where our letters go, and they were all very excited. So while Carina was busy inside buying our stamps, we got busy singing. Of course Michael Finnegan was sung and also Upsy down town. We have such a great bunch of beautiful singers ! As Carina came back it was time to put our stamps on our letters. These ones were a bit different... we had to lick them. So one by one the Kookaburras came up to give their stamp a big lick to then stick it straight on their envelopes. We were then ready to pop them in that big red box ! The smiles on their faces were unbeatable, and they were all so super proud of themselves for sending them off ! Off we went to our second stop ! NANAAAASSS said Quadey, WAMELLON said Leo... we were at the fruit shop. So whilst Jared spoke to our other friends about all of the other fruit and vegetables they could see, Livvy, Quade and Leo headed inside to get our bananas and watermelon. They were very excited to choose their fresh produce and Livvy was even more excited to pay for it with our fruit good to go, we headed back to Kindy for a quick play before lunch. After lunch, we cut up the watermelon and I looked away for just a second... and it was all gone. It must’ve been delicious !! What a happy day, thank you again to Jared and Lauren for your extra special help ! - Lara and Carina

21.01.2022 Learning and Discovering With The Use of Loose Parts! Our Friday morning had started out with with some very stimulating loose parts play. Our little friend took the initiative to engage in some engineering using off cuts of pipe, wood and some old bed slats. As we approached him we began to encourage him to tell us about what he was creating it’s not ready yet he shouted enthusiastically. We stepped away and watched as he continued to choose the right lengths of wood, chan...ging them around until they were just right. We took guesses as to what he might be constructing. It’s ready he announced excitedly can you tell me all about it? I asked I’ll give you a clue he said cheekily it has wings and goes hoot hoot. Myself and another educator stood back and noticed straight away that our little friend had indeed created a beautiful owl with big eyes, wings and even legs. We both jumped up and down on the spot with excitement celebrating the creation our clever boy had made. Experiencing the learning process of this experience using loose parts was also a big achievement for us as we have embedded a lot of focus on the use of loose parts within our curriculum this year. We love watching the children be the creators of their own learning journeys, we have so many ways that we can now extend and embrace the learning that has been facilitated from this spontaneous experiance and we are so excited to see which direction it goes in. Watch this space! See more
