24.01.2022 14 ways to be creative this week: 1. Fill a page in your journal (even if its I dont know what to say, but I am going to fill this page anyway) 2. Take a ph...otograph of something in the room that has a story 3. Look up interesting places you want to visit on Google Maps Street View and take screenshots of them. 4. Make a playlist of your favorite songs from middle school. 5. Cook something with ingredients you already have 6. Fill a page in your journal with your favorite quotes, lyrics, verses 7. Create a Pinterest board of nothing more than the art, architecture, and design you like 8. Write down the parts of your favorite book that youve highlighted by hand 9. Read something on Wikipedia and write how you feel about it: Canyons. The Hummingbirds. The color blue. It could be anything. 10. Write a letter to yourself ten years ago. 11. Write a letter to yourself ten years from now. 12. Go through an old notebook. Highlight your favorite part. 13. Listen to instrumental music the next car/train/bus ride. See what comes to mind. Write it down. 14. Create something in your a notebook using only crayons I cannot remember off the top of my head who I wrote the above piece for but I do remember thinking as I got ready to send it to her, I hope these words convey this: even in her uncertainty, there is room to create...there is room to make things that will be valuable to her story, even before she knows what will happen. I hope these words and this list above can encourage at least one person to keep creating beautiful, honest things, even in uncertainty. Even if its nothing more than a photo capturing the light of the room youre in, one day you will look back and see how all of these little things mattered so much more than you ever thought they would. What little things will you do this week to create something? It can be something on this list or something totally different! Leave a comment below. I cant wait to hear. And if you happen to post photos of anything you create this week, use the hashtag #thestorytellerco. Its a small way we can all encourage each other to do these small, mindful things, no matter the uncertainty.

19.01.2022 Sharing an article we co-wrote which explores a new approach to art therapy wherein the art therapist creates art on behalf of the patient in a collaborative process. This paper is a response to the barriers in art therapy engagement in the palliative care setting where patients often experience fatigue or may have limited physical capacity. Using a case study methodology, we describe the Art on Behalf approach in stages and illustrate the psychotherapeutic aspects through case studies. The link to the article is open for a few weeks. We hope you enjoy the read. https://authors.elsevier.com/a/1aDvjivMu327K

07.01.2022 A person with Alzheimers disease may have trouble connecting with the image they created when viewed later. It can be useful to have them sign their artwork to show that this was their creation. However, if the person appears to be distressed by revisiting the artwork, its best to put it away after the session. They can benefit from the process of making art in the moment, without needing to revisit the image later on. . . . .... . . . . .
