25.01.2022 If you want to be a successful athlete, above all else, you need to show up. Show up when you arnt feeling it. Show up when the odds are stacked against you. Show up not just for you, but to give back to those who support you.... Its easy to get it done when you are feeling it, but its the sessions when you arnt that really count. @cathal_brennan 2 weeks post appendicitis surgery. Modified sessions. Modified load. But present to help his team mates. Thats the makings of a successful person, not just athlete. @ontrackrun

25.01.2022 BMX Athlete @__ethandale__ looking strong and ready for State Titles this week! This time 1 year ago (at State Titles) Ethan crashed out suffering a few broken ribs and a punctured lung causing him to have to have a fair bit of time off! Over the past 12 months he has worked hard to get back to this point and is now stronger, and more prepared than ever. Good luck mate!! #bmx #athlete #strengthandconditioning #rehab #exercisephysiology #singlelegsquat

23.01.2022 FLORIDA BOUND | Wishing the absolute best to @jamiehiscock as she heads off today to start her NCAA journey with the @gatorstf. Having worked with Jamie for over 5 years now it’s a sad but incredibly exciting day to see her head off.... Jamie is honestly one of the hardest working athletes I’ve had the pleasure to work with and I am confident she will continue her successes over in the US. The positive of her not being around now though is I can grow my beard out without being ridiculed! Best of luck Jamie. We are all rooting for you!! P. 0407171708 E. 22.01.2022 BMX State champs for @ben.schramm.111 and @bellaschramm_ this weekend. BMX is a sport that often many people don’t know much about let alone how to train for it! So the question I always get, how do you train your BMX athletes? Well, Bella is 15 and Ben is 12 (youngest athlete I have at EP at the moment, moves amazing). I train them how all youth athletes should be trained with a focus on;... - Movement Quality - Movement Variety (within reason) - Strength Foundations - Jump & Landing Mechanics - And most importantly..FUN We do the basics savagely well. Yes they are BMX athletes, but they are also teenagers who play other sports, shoot hoops, kick around the footy, mountain bike and don’t ever stop moving.. They are training to crush everything, not jump BMX. Don’t let this fool you, they are both damn strong - Bella crushes 45kg BB Split Squats, 80kg BB Hip Lifts and 30kg Landmine Squats with ease and Ben crushes bodyweight Trap Bar sets and broad jumps nearly 2m already. We also spend a large portion of each session questioning Ben’s haircut, but that’s a story for another day. Don’t sleep on these two. They are only just getting started. @eliteperformancegym @dalepercy @crispbrosracing

21.01.2022 Another big training week ticked off for @harry_biggs @manning_elms and the @ontrackrun squad. COVID hasnt slowed them down. If anything, they are hungrier than ever.... 17.01.2022 Accommodating Resistance. There are many reasons for adding bands to movements to improve strength and power or to even reduce load in some circumstances. Here @zel_2000 is using a Orange @ironedgetraining powerband to increase resistance as she moves throughout the lift. The hardest part of a Trap Bar DL (and the point where we see the most faults such as collapsing/losing tension) is the start of the movement; the lift from the ground. Adding the band allows Azelle to ge...t through this portion of the lift at a slightly lighter load whilst still allowing tension to be added as the band begins to stretch. This method gives Azelle the most amount of work during the portion of the lift she is strongest. Simple but effective way to ‘add load without adding load’. I particularly love this for my female athletes as I can give them more load during a part of the lift but not the whole lift saving hands as grip strength is often my limitation of progression! @eliteperformancegym

16.01.2022 Best of luck to @jamiehiscock who leaves this weekend to make her way over to Argentina (Buenos Aires) for the Youth Olympic Games. 13.01.2022 As a practitioner its important to have spent time coaching in all situations. Individual, Small Group, Large Group, Gen Pop, Athletes, Juniors ect. There is always something to learn from every person or group you coach. Upskill your experience, not your qualifications.

08.01.2022 THE RETURN OF SPORT | With the return to sport fast approaching for many athletes across Australia, I must admit that I am excited...but equally just as scared. I am excited for obvious reasons. I work with athletes.... Athletes love to compete and I love to see them compete. Thats a no brainer. But Why am I scared? Im scared because I know there is going to be a rise in injury rates. Im scared because as a coach who has been through many rehabs of injuries such as ACL ruptures, MCL ruptures, hamstring tears, knee and shoulder dislocations, ATFL ruptures and countless stress injuries, overuse niggles and ignored chronic pain - I am genuinely scared of whats to come. Im not going to bore everyone with statistics but we have seen it over the past few weeks in professional sports. Football in Europe, AFL and NRL in AUS. More injuries than what we have seen in the past. What can you do? Here are 5 general things you can do as an athlete to help mitigate your risk of injury: 1. Be conditioned. You must be able to handle the demands of your sport. Build a base level capacity and increase intensity from there. Dont start fast because you need to be fast - fatigue will be your worst enemy 2. Sleep. I CANNOT stress this enough - Sleep is a training tool. Use it to aid recovery, aid training adaptation and generally improve health and wellbeing 3. Stop eating like an A**hole. We know the basics. Eat a good balance of carbs, proteins and fats with a high push towards fruit and veg, and unprocessed food. Dont forget about water. Have your water bottle with you at all times. Hydrate!!! 4. Spend time in the gym. Learning how to improve fundamental movement, jump/landing/sprint mechanics and developing a good base of strength will do you wonders - and I guarantee you that you will love it 5. Build back slowly. Your body LOVES training/exercise. What is doesnt love, is it all at once. Dont go from no running to 50km in a week. Start small, build big. Your body will thank you. BMX athlete @bellaschramm_ will be ready Need some help/advice? Chat to me. P. 0407171708 E. [email protected] W. www.engagerehabperform.com

08.01.2022 TRADIES. Lift the right way and free yourself from pain. Part 1 of 3. Now, Im an S&C Coach, not a tradie. Im not going to sit here and tell you how to do your job (Eg. Lifting, Moving, Shoes ect) because its YOUR job, not mine, I cant comment on it.... What I can comment on is how to better use your time in the gym to, - Feel better - Become injury resilient - Get out of pain! I spend a lot of time around tradies - most of my best mates are tradies. What I hear all the time: - Sore lower back - Sore knees - Neck pain - Shoulder pain - No mobility Ultimately worried about how many years they can stay on the tools when they are 25 and everything hurts already. Its no question that your daily job takes its toll on the body - it always will to some degree. What we can control though is: - Improving overall Joint Mobility and Joint Health - Improving overall Strength and movement mechanics to assist with helping you handle the stresses of work - Improving overall Output to aid in managing load - Improving recovery knowledge (Eg. Trigger Pointing for Neck Pain, Back Pain ect) Pictured, Nick from @hildershomes. (Exceptional builder if you are looking for some work done!). Nick is a long term friend and client of mine. Nick changed the way he trained about 2 years ago due to chronic back and neck pain. Now, he not only knows what to do in the gym to keep himself healthy, but also what mobility work he regularly needs to keep himself moving and how often he needs to lift to keep himself feeling good long term. Nick currently still trains with us at @eliteperformancegym on average 3 times per week. Want to book in for a consultation? P. 0407171708 E. 07.01.2022 Goodluck to BMX athlete @bellaschramm_ who competes today over in NZ at the Oceania Continental Championships. Bella is a very committed athlete who is a pleasure to coach. Over the last few months we have stripped Bellas training right back to the basics improving everything from her positioning (Lumbopelvic/Rib Cage), to general athleticism (jump/landing mechanics) along with promoting her strength development. Pumped for whats to come in 2019! @dalepercy #athlete #bmx #strengthandconditioning

06.01.2022 Very pleased with the results during our recent EliteX program. EliteX is a biannual program I run at @eliteperformancegym geared to those who have exceeded our Group programs and want a bit more. Its almost like an athlete pre-season. 6 Weeks, 6 Sessions per week. This time round it was Strength where we looked at total results of Trap Bar, Bench Press and Pull-Up 3RM. The 14 finishers lifted a total of 4315kg - no small feat.... I was involved personally in this round and saw improvements of: - Trap Bar DL: 180kg - 210kg - Bench Press: 100kg - 110kg - Pull-Up: 32kg - 40kg I also achieved a new BB Deadlift 3RM of 170kg and 1RM of 180kg, as well as DB Bench PB of 50kg x 6. Very fortunate to be involved with such a good bunch of people in an absolute weapon of a facility. See more

06.01.2022 Congrats to @carter.lachlan and the rest of the QLD team who took out at the Australian Mens & Mixed Netball Championships in Melbourne last weekend! 05.01.2022 Long Term Consistency is the KEY! This August will mark my 6th year anniversary of training the big dog himself @ethanbrien. I started with Ethan when he was 11. I was a fresh faced Prac student who knew absolutely nothing (despite thinking I knew a lot).... Ethan was, well, he was 11, so all he wanted to do was kick the footy, not strength train (rumor has it he hit a light and nearly killed me with a flying bulb, not that I hold a grudge..). Now, I think Im a bit better of a coach than I was back then (quietly confident). Im no longer fresh faced, and Ive coached hundreds, most likely thousands of clients/members/athletes since then. Ethans graduating school this year. Way to make me feel old mate. Over the past 6 years Ive made Ethan earn every bit of progression. The dude is strong, I mean, real god damn strong. But, I held him back, made him earn it and now, hes six years on, has immaculate technique in everything, can lift the house down and loves every bit of it. Bright future ahead for this legend. And yes, he lifted this 140kg like it was a piece of string. @eliteperformancegym

04.01.2022 Now 11 months post ACLR, here @emfarrell_ is working on some reactive change of direction as we begin to phase her back into Touch Football training this month. 02.01.2022 Basics done SAVAGELY well. Here, Basketballer @jaseholmes_ is pictured working on the foundations he needs to set himself up for success on the court. Jase has big goals.... Jase has patience with his training and knows that long term consistency will triumph short term results. Jase knows that movement execution is far more important than load at this stage of his training. Be more like Jase. Set yourself up for success.
