07.01.2022 Pest First Aid - Red Imported Fire Ant (RIFA) 1) - Apply a cold compress to relieve the swelling and pain. 2) - Gently wash the affected area with soap and water and leave the blister intact.... 3) - Seek immediate medical attention if you are allergic to insect stings or experience symptoms of allergy. Six RIFA nests have been destroyed in Freo since this story broke last week. These ants inflict a painful, fiery sting, which in some cases cause a severe acute reaction.
