25.01.2022 Hello! Welcome to the Enrichment Hub. We are a team of two female support mentors who are dedicated to offering young adults with disabilities the opportunity for independent living and life skill development in the form of weekenders away. We want to connect you to what you need to live a meaningful life full of opportunities and ongoing enrichment. ... The Enrichment Hub was created to fulfil a need of providing quality, sustainable development for people with Disabilities

25.01.2022 A trip to Redgate Beach today to climb the rocks (good gross motor skill practice) and lap up the sunshine. We lead the way up the rocks and the guys follow along. Brave and willing to try pretty much anything.

17.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Another LONG POST WARNING but hopefully worth the read. At least skip to the question part at the end and let me know your thoughts Where are we at with Support for young adults? ... Many may not realise that Kate and I both have full-time careers, so our capacity to offer weekenders is limited. Right now we have one group of 4 young men for weekenders and we are working to put together a group of young women. Kate and I have been approached by a few more people about our Weekenders....which has been amazing! Thank you for your support! We are thinking that rather than offer more weekenders, which we simply cannot, we offer other social events for young adults to get together in small groups to actively engage with Kate and I and other young people. If we were to develop this idea, it would follow the same principles we have set up for our weekenders; Self Care ie hand washing and following appropriate hygiene, staying safe at all times Conversation skills ie encouraged to actively engage with others in any way possible Appropriate language/behaviour/manners etc for the environment we are in towards each other and themselves Supporting everyone to use their money wisely, order themselves nutritious foods and drinks and eat mindfully and more! Please let us know in the comments below what is most suitable so we get a clear idea of what is wanted and needed....please choose as many as is relevant to you. Weeknight dinner and drinks ie 5pm - 8pm Weekend dinner and drinks ie 6pm-9pm Weekend lunch and drinks ie 12pm-3pm Weekday walk/hike and cafe stop ie 9-12pm Weekend walk/hike and cafe stop ie 9am-12pm Weekend movement class and lunch ie 10am-1pm Any other ideas? We are flexible and would LOVE input from YOU! As Kate and I are both healthy, movement conscious individuals, we would love to incorporate some exercise/movement into the mix thus the walk/hike/exercise class etc. But not always. Thanks again for your support, ideas and feedback! We really do want to offer a great service to you.

16.01.2022 First dinner party done and dusted! We had a great night preparing dinner, hosting Steves friends, good food and good conversation. Looking forward to the next one at their house... #dinnerparties #independentliving #lifeskills #friends #dinner #conversation #currynight #goodtimes

14.01.2022 Another big part of our development weekenders is cultivating self respect. This takes the form of keeping personal items neat and tidy, beds made, showering daily, teeth brushed, clean, neat clothing and all those great things in life that make us feel good and loved.

13.01.2022 Steve is a young guy wishing to upskill so he can move out of home permanently. Steve is attending the very first of our Weekenders in July with 3 of his mates where we will do more of this skill development you see in the pics. The guys will negotiate on the menu, budget, shop and prepare their meals all weekend. We will also be hiking, playing Scrabble, making gift cards and gifts for whoever they wish to gift to and we will top off the weekend at the local pub together. ... If this sounds like something you, your son or daughter or your client is looking for, our next Weekender is planned for September. Please note: I have permission from Steve and his mum to post these great pics!

12.01.2022 With just 3 days until our next weekender, I wanted to share some of the activities we did on our weekender last year in Sorrento! If you are interested in meaningful, whole life developmental weekends for yourself or someone you know, get in touch!

11.01.2022 Kate, myself and the guys are at the halfway point of our 3 day developmental weekender. The weekenders give the guys an opportunity to spend time together strengthening their relationships, developing communication skills, working to a budget with shopping for food and spending money, working as a team and living together. A lot of manners, respect and thought for each other is a constant focus. Here are some pics of what we do....

11.01.2022 This is what Kate and I Iove to see. No phones in sight. Just good ol' conversation in the sunshine amongst friends. If we didn't need to get back to Dunsborough to cook dinner, the guys would have sat here for another hour.

10.01.2022 Who would be keen for a Succulent Planting Workshop and a Kokedama Making Workshop? Confirming costings and dates. Info released soon for July and August Workshops! Support workers or carers very welcome to attend with participants! Even if its just for a coffee and a chat while participants do their thing!

09.01.2022 So proud of Stevo yesterday. This is just some of the unique development we do with individuals to help them with becoming independent in so many areas of their life! Our Weekenders are for just that! Independence, skills and loads of fun while doing it! ... Check out our events page for the next Weekender in September. Our July Weekender is already fully booked! PLEASE NOTE, Steve has trained hard at Range Of Motion to be able to lift this heavy mattress on his own. #theenrichmenthub #independentliving #lifeskills #development #developmentalopportunities #whatdisability

08.01.2022 Dinner Party prep. Steve is having friends for dinner so he set the table today in prep for Mondays dinner. Steve is transitioning to full time independent living, so thinking ahead is needed when he is only at his unit a few times a week. More pics of what we cook coming soon!

07.01.2022 Its Tuesday which means Stevo and I cook! Ive had a cold for a few days so I have my Kick A Germ Joy Juice! My goodness it works!! Thanks to CJ for the recipe

07.01.2022 Our last evening together. We cook almost everything! And eat together at the table. We have our traditional pub lunch on Sunday as a meal out. # no phones # manners manners manners # conversation ... # relaxed and chilled out So important to stop and eat together a delicious home cooked meal. This was roast pork with crackling (at Gregs request and the guys agreed) with roasted root vegetables and steamed greens. First time Ive nailed the crackling on a pork roast too! Kate and I dont do unhealthy and our weekend menu reflects this. We push hard for the boys to make healthy food choices and be involved in the meal with cooking or setting the table or washing up afterwards. No excessive snacking, lots of fruits and vegetables and gut healthy foods like natural yoghurt in the mix too.

06.01.2022 There is always a fitness aspect to our weekenders. We have done bush walks and hikes, kicking the footy around or getting in to the gym. This morning we visited Cal and Shelbys gym @themovementfitnessandwellbeing for Sunday Funday. The guys worked very hard! Then it was home cooked bacon and egg rolls before we head to Margaret River for the day.

03.01.2022 See this little plot of garden? Soon we hope to transform it into tomatoes and capsicum. We planted pumpkin seeds in the corner and Steve planted the pots with coriander. ... More herbs on the way to support our cooking obsession.

03.01.2022 Hello Everyone! ***Long Post Warning*** but please read on, particularly if you know of young women wanting support and independence! Things have been very quiet on The Enrichment Hub page due to a number of reasons.... The COVID restrictions shut down our operations for a few months and now that we have a little more freedom, The Enrichment Hub is focusing on Weekenders away for like-minded individuals with a disability. You will see some changes coming on the page as I get the chance to update all the information - working around my full-time business Kri:eitiviti. We (Kate and myself - Kareena) are currently working with a group of 4 young men with Down Syndrome. We will be going away for our 4th Weekender next weekend. These weekenders are so valuable for the guys as it gives them freedom, independence, friendship and important skills like budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, negotiation, communication and problem solving that they can take home with them and put into practice. We are now looking for 4 young women (18 yrs +) who are interested in a similar experience. To share a special bond with Kate and myself as well as the young ladies we take away. The group of 4 does not change to allow the girls to form special friendships. We already have two young ladies very interested so, depending on the response, we may put together two groups. If you are interested in a Weekender away or know someone who may be interested, please either comment below or get in touch with me, Kareena via a PM. Looking forward to meeting some more great friends.
