24.01.2022 Question of the Day: Do I need a referral to see an ENT Specialist? MEDICAL CONSULTATION: when visiting a specialist for a medical reason, a current and valid referral is required. This enables the referring doctor, usually your general practitioner, to outline the reason for the referral, ensuring proper management of your medical concern. A referral will also allow you to claim back any rebates from Medicare following your consultation. COSMETIC CONSULTATION: for a cosmet...ic consultation, a referral is not required but if you have one, then the cost of your consultation may be rebatable.
