23.01.2022 A USC: University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia study has found the decline in seagrass in our waterways is significantly contributing to a dramatic rise in ...CO2 emissions. The level of pollution is equivalent to what 5 million cars produce every year. Every year matters, every personal decision matters. No matter how small, change is needed very soon. 19.01.2022 Dont buy into the #greenwash - just because its made out of 100% recycled plastic doesnt mean it will reduce litter or marine debris. It also doesnt mean i...t has any less impact on the communities who are having their aquifers mined and watertables running dry. Drink out of your tap. 06.01.2022 Please dont use non-disposable plastic & if you are using atleast discard it properly. Plastic threatens the existence of life under water right from smaller f...ishes to huge mammals and amphibians in several ways. Reports say that around one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals are killed due to plastic ingestion. #science #nature #motherearth #savenature #sealife #banplastic #scienceandtechnology #saveourplanet #gogreen #saynotoplastic #makeworldabetterplace #SayNoToPollution Share this post to spread awareness about plastic pollution.

06.01.2022 #Boaties are being reminded to go slow for those below after six turtles died last month due to boat strikes or propeller cuts... in Moreton Bay. We are concerned with these deaths and believe the tally could be higher as not every incident is reported. Four turtles recently killed by boats or propellers have been adult-sized. With school holidays in full swing, we are expecting to see an increased amount of traffic on our waterways and we encourage everyone who is out-and-about boating to reduce their speed in estuaries, sandy straits, shallow inshore areas and reef flats, and avoid shallow seagrass meadows if possible. Skippers travelling through go slow areas must operate their boats off the plane, and cannot operate boats in a manner or at a speed that would reasonably be expected to result in striking a turtle or dugong. Turtles and dugongs are at risk of being injured or killed when they come to the surface for air. Rangers regularly patrol Go Slow areas and boaties doing the wrong thing in a go-slow area can receive an on-the-spot fine of $533. Anyone who comes across injured, stranded or dead marine wildlife should report it by calling 1300 130 372. There are designated go-slow areas in some marine parks details are in the marine parks visitor guides and zoning plans on the our website http://ow.ly/CxVS50AnE6t. Examples of permanent go-slow areas include Double Island Point in Great Sandy Marine Park, and Amity Banks in Moreton Bay Marine Park. #qldenvironment | #goslowforthosebelow

04.01.2022 Throw it away! Where is away? Lets look at Henderson Island. Uninhabited by man. A part of the Pitcairn Island Group, lost in the South Pacific halfway between... New Zealand and Chile. Home to a rare parrot called the Stephens lorikeet, plus other endemic species found nowhere else on Earth. 14 square miles of paradise. The highest density of plastic debris reported anywhere in the world, washed ashore from lands far, far away. Check it out: there is no away, only our one living world. See more

02.01.2022 We need to do something about the fishing line in the seaway, stoping it from getting in there in the first place. There are so many amazing divers that remove the fishing line on a daily basis. Combined we still cant make a difference, so the only option is to look at the source.

02.01.2022 A fantastic effort by the team on a chilly Saturday. Thank you for braving the elements and showing such dedication to making a difference to the environment.
