25.01.2022 Here's the trailer to my latest short film - I received a call out of the blue one day from Barbara Bingham asking what I thought of a particular kernel of a story idea. Over the next few months, we ended up writing a script together, enlisting the help of many very talented Australian cast and crew to shoot this short film over two days and complete it so that it is now chasing it's first film festival berth. You just never know when something will drop out of the blue and s...et a major new path for you! Over the Edge - Short Film is a simple thriller with a classic Hitchcockian flavour that will hopefully keep you tense until the last frame! 22.01.2022 This particular day of shooting on Event Zero marked the first time I'd ever worked with the remarkable Zoe Carides. A consummate pro in every way and a downright lovely human, she has now appeared in several on my productions, and I even had the pleasure of directing her in the 2017 feature length remake of this very series. 22.01.2022 The film and TV industry is an odd one in Australia. By it's very nature, even practitioners that are constantly working move from company to company in full-time employment, particularly in production. Even the longest of Hollywood shoots in Australia are only likely to employ production people for a few months, as this is how long it takes to run the course of the job - not because they are fired or not good at what they do. As a result, even the busiest of crew can (and ha...ve) fallen through the eligibility criteria for any government support during this crazy time. My company has been fortunate, but it's not cool that these people - some of whom have been employed constantly for decades - are left behind. This website is a fun little exercise - you can nominate your favorite bingeworthy Australian show. 14.01.2022 Another little fishbowl episode of Event Zero that took place pretty much entirely in the back of an ambulance as Luke Arnold and Carla Nirella try to save a victim and contain what they realize is the virus that killed him. I love this kind of contained storytelling - it forces a kind of creativity that often isn't scene when you can have anything you want as a filmmaker. Bring on Thursday's release!!

09.01.2022 One of our proudest achievements on this series, with the teeny tiny budget we had, was the astonishingly effective smashed train carriage interior set built by Production Designer Katie Newton and Art Director Sam Boffa. On the resources we had, this should have been impossible. A testament to these hard working artists who went well and truly above and beyond. In the final series we added a little effects augmentation (like sparks and so on), but this was the stuff right he...re. 08.01.2022 Inspired by the flood of photos taking over my Facebook feed today of all the amazingly clever and talented professionals and artists who I have had the pleaseur to work with over the years, I'm going to start posting the Behind The Scenes videos from Event Zero - a web series we made in 2012 with some very clever people who had to solve some very challenging problems on a smell-of-an-oily-rag indie micro budget. There are still some scenes, moments and movie magic trickery i...n this series that I'm immensely proud of, and that's simply a testament to the awesomeness of the cast and crew involved. Many have gone on to enjoy lengthy and successful careers at the top fo the game, and many I'm still working with to this day. Hang in there all of you. There will be more stories to be told when this is all said and done! Oh, and when we run out of BTS videos - Deadhouse is going to drop the entire series next week. It will be the first time you will be able to see the show in full in about 8 years since its intial release!!
