25.01.2022 Excited to be back hosting events again at the Embassy. The Alexandra Repair Cafe was held on Saturday and is a fabulous community event promoting reuse, repair and skill sharing. It is part of the global Repair Cafe movement with over 2,000 Repair Cafes globally, and is the only one in the Murrindindi Shire. #AlexandraRepairCafe #repaircafe

24.01.2022 Community Kindness is contagious! Murrindindi Meals is expanding and is now available in Marysville. Fraga's Cafe and Elevation 423 Bar & Cafe are now part of the pay it forward food program. They are being supported by the Lions Club of Marysville & District who will coordinate distribution of the food vouchers in the local community. If other businesses would like to be involved, please contact us and we can get you started.
22.01.2022 Community kindness and connection is more important now than ever. Ongoing Covid restrictions can be tough for many, as it means we are unable to see family and friends and we cannot maintain our usual social connections. That is why we are starting Lockdown Letters. We invite members of the community to write letters, draw pictures, send a poem or create some art. Write your own letter or use one our Lockdown Letter Postcards (there is space on the back), which can be post...ed in the new letterbox outside the Embassy of Ideas. They will be delivered to residents at Kellock Lodge Nursing Home and to others in the community who are isolated and live alone to brighten their day. Letters can be written anonymously. Let’s help our community to stay connected. We hope the joy a person gets from opening a letter will let them know that they are very much an important part of our community, and that there are people who care and are thinking of them See more

15.01.2022 Our Covid Flag Journey Update Pop down to Grant St and see different flags in the window. There is still time to decorate a flag piece/s... I wonder if we can get 200 pieces....
14.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. The impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, physical distancing and isolation can make us feel anxious, stressed and worried. We all have difficult days. It’s OK not to be OK. It is more important than ever for us all to stay connected, and for those who are able to, be willing to support those around us so we can tackle these challenges together. You are not alone. Every day is a chance to check in on your families, friends and neighbours. Let’s make staying connected part of our daily routine.
13.01.2022 We had a lovely morning making community connections in the sunshine. Thanks to those who came along. For several people it was their first time ever visiting the Embassy. We are so glad you found us! We host our free community morning tea every Friday - pop in and say hi and connected with others in your community. Everyone is welcome :) #communitea #everyoneiswelcome
13.01.2022 We are excited to help coordinate a new initiative called Murrindindi Meals based on the Pay It Forward system. How it works: customers simply purchase a meal or donate a $ value toward a meal and pay. A note will be posted on the Pay it Forward board in the café. Anyone who needs a meal can come in and take a note off the board and redeem for a meal. Customers can also purchase a Murrindindi Meals voucher, which they can give directly to a person, who can then come in and r...edeem for a meal. For those who cannot come in, there is an option to call and get delivery. Local community groups will also be engaged to assist with coordinating delivery to those in the community who would be appreciative of a meal. The initiative hopes to foster community spirit during these testing times and provides a tangible way that people can help and support others in their community, show kindness while supporting local businesses. Look out for the Murrindindi Meals logo in the window of the following participating cafes; Café Alex, Redgate Expresso and Grant Street Grocer. Buy a meal to show someone you care, it could be for a neighbour, elderly friend, someone doing it tough or someone who needs a pick me up. It is a way to show you care and say you matter. If other cafes/businesses would like to get involved, please get in contact with us. See more
12.01.2022 We are grateful for the continuing support and contributions by the community to the sharing and caring cupboard located outside the front of the Embassy. Just a reminder that the cupboard is for non-perishable food items and personal care products. Please don’t donate any food that is open or past it’s used by date. We do not accept general used household items like linen, kitchen items etc. Thank you for your understanding. #caringCupboard #foodsecurity
10.01.2022 We often get asked how the community caring cupboard is going and if the food is really going to people in need. The cupboard was set up based on goodwill and trust, that people only take what they need - not questions asked - and give what they can. It is accessible 24/7. We assume it is going to those who need it. So it was lovely to find this card in the cupboard this week, and know that the cupboard is making a difference. It shows that kindness really can have a ripple effect on many others. Thank you to everyone who has embraced the caring cupboard during this pandemic to combat food insecurity in our community and make the cupboard what it is. Your kindness has been noted.
09.01.2022 Our Covid Journey Flag.... We have received the most beautiful pictures of two talented designers and their flag pieces. Thank you Phyllis Graham and Kathleen Chanter from Darlingford Upper Goulburn Nursing Home for sharing with us. We look forward to adding these amazing pieces to our flag.
09.01.2022 Masks are about to become compulsory. There are some disposable ones available in the community caring cupboard outside the Embassy. We hope to have some reusable masks available soon too for those in need. Take care and stay safe everyone.

07.01.2022 Many thanks to The Outdoor Education Group for their generous donation of food (thanks to Alexandra Community Hub for coordinating delivery). We will be stocking the community caring cupboard and also making up food hampers. If you know someone who would appreciate a hamper please send us a message, as we have a few spare. We also have disposable masks and reusable masks (kindly made and donated by a wonderful community member) in the caring cupboard. Please give what you can and take only what you need.
04.01.2022 Look at these lovely lockdown letters and handmade notes that we received in our "letterbox" at the Embassy this week. Thank you so much to the anonymous makers/writers. These cards have been delivered and given to many in the community who live alone to brighten their day. Anyone can contribute to this community connection writing project. If you are looking for a school holiday project, we would love some kids art and letters to distribute to Kellock Lodge.

03.01.2022 It was a big day on Saturday and a significant milestone in the evolution of the outdoor space at the Embassy, with plumbing and outdoor taps being installed. This stage lays the groundwork for the development of our Feed it Forward Community Garden which we have been planning and our Goodwill Garlic social enterprise. Huge thanks and massive shout out to these local legends Andrew Carren Wood from A&C Wood Plumbing and Clifford Brady from ITEC Earthworks Pty Ltd for donating their time, skills and expertise to make this happen. We are so grateful for your support and contribution. #Feeditforward #goodwillGarlic
