20.01.2022 Southern Bluefin Tuna have been coming close to shore on EP this summer and Geoff and his mates were clever enough to find them and hook up big time! Launching from Farm Beach with amazing weather over the New Year period in the Polycraft these elusive and hard fighting fish were within range, Geoff found plenty of fish to 13 kg busting up and willing to eat lures to the east of Pt Sir Issac, where he and his crew made the most of the opportunity, Well done guys!!

13.01.2022 SPOT ON FISHING & OUTDOORS PORT LINCOLN WEST COAST FISHING REPORT 15 OCTOBER 2020 This week’s image is John Hennessy with a nice flathead he caught recently. ...Here’s what was biting and where. Coffin Bay Big garfish, and salmon trout were caught in excellent numbers from Coles Point. Greenly beach had been producing salmon in excess of 70cm at times. Inside Coffins produced good numbers of salmon trout, just legal king George whiting, and good numbers of garfish. Similar reports came from the Dutton bay area. Gunyah beach had been producing some decent salmon, with some cracker fishing being caught on metal slugs. Port Lincoln The north shore is producing some smaller squid, good garfish, and the odd whiting during afternoon sessions. The marina had been producing king George whiting up to 40cm. The jetty and wharf produced king George whiting for persistent anglers. Squid were thick from the main jetty, both at night and during day sessions. Boaties reported king George whiting from Spalding, monument, and Grantham. Fish size was generally in excess of 35cm. Boaties fishing inside Proper bay reported some good catches of King George whiting but stated that they generally had to be worked for, moving between multiple drops and using a decent burley trail. Boaties also reported some good schools of salmon trout around Grantham island. Land based anglers fishing Murrays point managed to bag a few king George whiting, garfish, and the odd snook. Salmon hole had reports of salmon trout, and some big tommies. Kingfish have returned in reasonable numbers, being caught from the jetty, wharf, and marina. Fish size is averaging from 60cm to some being in excess of 1 metre. Fish were caught on a range of baits and lures including live baits, and soft plastic baitfish imitations. North shields beach continues its run of yellowfin whiting, with some decent fish being caught during the past week. Tumby Bay Garfish were a popular target, biting in good numbers from the jetty, and boaties fishing around the bay. Big squid were a popular target for anglers fishing the jetty at night. The group remained a reliable location for big whiting. Spot On Fishing & Outdoors, 39 Tasman Terrace, Port Lincoln. Ph 08 8683 0021

10.01.2022 Summer may almost be over but the best season is about to start. Autumn brings big whiting and flathead closer to shore and into Coffin Bay. Also lighter winds and fewer afternoon sea breezes. Thanks for the report Tackle World Port Lincoln

08.01.2022 Port Lincoln Fishing Report Thursday 15th October 2020 The fishing has improved a lot over the last week, what a difference a bit of sunshine and warmer weath...er makes. Here’s what has been caught. Coffin Bay In the bays there’s still a lot of small Whiting with a few legal ones amongst them, it is better to try other areas for Whiting at this stage. Garfish are showing up in better numbers as well as Snook, Tommies and Salmon Trout. Gummy Sharks can be caught at night in the deeper water areas throughout the bays. Farm Beach is still very good for Whiting with some good numbers of fish in most areas. Some areas have a lot of small fish so move around until you find the better ones. There’s Squid, Snook, Tommies, Garfish, Gummy Sharks and the odd Flathead as well in this area. Offshore a number of boats have done well on Nannygai, Blue Morwong and Sharks, if you can get out it is well worth heading out offshore. Salmon news has come from Gunyah and Greenly beaches again they have been the most consistent for some time now and if the weather conditions are good there should be no problems hooking them. Baits and lures both have been working and the Daiwa Bait Junkie soft plastics in the 5inch jerk shad are Salmon killers if you what to try something besides bait or metal lures. Port Lincoln The town jetty has seen small Kingfish being caught in the last week so there will plenty of fishers out for them. Make sure you are up to date with the fishery rules and regulations, last year they changed the rules and there was lot of confusion as it wasn’t publicly announced, for those that need to know it’s one Kingfish per person over 60cm. For more information keep up to date on the PIRSA website or app. Squid are being caught from all jetties, there’s a few Whiting, Snook and Tommies from both the main wharf and town jetty, there should be some Garfish around to. In the bays there’s been plenty of bird activity in the afternoons so there should be plenty fish life around. There haven’t been too many decent Whiting reports yet in the bay but they can’t be too far away. Whiting are along the North shore, Spalding Cove and in a few areas in the Proper. Squid are best around Boston Island and the North Shore. There were some good Whiting catches over the weekend from Carcase Rocks through to Taylors Landing and also Thistle Island. Offshore Nannygai, Blue Morwong and Sharks have been on the bite for the few that managed to get out when the weather could let you. Salmon fishing has been ok in the National Park in the Wanna to Salmon Hole area and there are some decent schools there but not always in casting range. Tumby Bay The jetty has Squid, Tommies, Garfish, Snook and the odd Whiting. In the bay there has been some decent numbers of big Garfish caught and is well worth chasing them if you’re after a good feed. The Group is still very good for Whiting with good catches from out there and there is also Garfish, Squid and Snook. Port Neill and Arno Bay There have been some good Whiting catches at both areas but it has been patchy. You might have to move around a bit until a good patch is found. Squid and Snook are also there in good numbers. The jetties have Squid, Snook, Garfish and Tommies so you can get a decent feed from the shore. Yellowfin whiting should also be around of the beaches by now in some small numbers. This week’s photos are courtesy of: Rick Elliott: A quick session this week on the flats saw some Yellow Fin Whiting caught. Noah Hanson: Noah caught this Shark out during the school holidays. Sunni Elson: A nice King George Whiting caught off of Spilsby Island. Ziggy Elson: Caught during the holidays on Spilsby Island land based. Jamie & Archie Coote: Kingfish have appeared at the town jetty this week, great fun if you can land them make sure you have a decent rod, reel and line to better your chances to hit the planks. The weather is looking ok for the next week and if pick your days you should be able to get out offshore and enjoy what we have on offer! TW Port Lincoln Team
