16.01.2022 So it’s officially confirmed The st Francis expeditions are bloody amazing! We were able to luck some absolutely amazing weather ( thanks to the pizza guy ) and apart from Jia coming down with appendicitis on the last day everything went how I imagined it would have. Day one we left earlier than planned which gave us more time at goat island where we found reminiscent’s of the old whaling days, followed by harvesting out seafood for dinners on the island which was snook an...d sea urchin, and Abs. This enabled us to pull into St Francis around 2 pm, although a little rushed the first night with a lot of help setting up camp this still enabled us to chill out and enjoy the beautiful evening. The boat day was great, we were able to find the sea cave and drive the tender right up inside! this was bloody amazing! Followed by a swim and wandering on the beach and fossicking amongst the drift wood, then off to cannan reef looking for tuna, unfortunately we didn’t get one but were able to see plenty on the surface. From cannen reef we went passed Fenelon island watched some sea lions on the beach, and tracked over to Masillon island for a late lunch a dive and look at more caves. Day 3 was incredible although windy we trekked over to the north side of the island wandering passed the old ruins, form the ruins we went to the north and found an amazing granite rock formation with a great area for a cliff jump ( photos to come ) Swam in some rock pools , found old stone water troughs from the 1890’s and just soaked up the seclusion of the island. The final night is beach dinner night with the guests soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the final supper of sparkling boiled oysters and the leftover seafood that needed to be eaten washed down with Bird In Hand Winery wines. The highlights of the trip ... everything ! Unfortunately I can’t discriminate it’s all good. However the dolphin swim at 0630 every morning has to be one of the best Although the mutton birds are my favourite especially the new viewing area. All in all what a bloody ripper of an adventure ! Next trip who’s keen ! Rod Ps Jia is healing well and looking forward to coming back! Eating Drinking wine And best of all the mutton birds are soooo cool Tomorrow we are all up at 0430 to watch the birds leave the island then a walk on the northern side of the island.
