25.01.2022 This year marks the fifth year of the Giles Foster Scholarship and we are delighted to announce that the 2019 GFS5 recipient is Ringwood Cricket Club all rounder Tyson Freeman. The scholarship will take Tyson to the UK to play cricket for Great Preston CricketClub in what is set to be a bumper summer of cricket in England as they host an ICC World Cup followed by a home Ashes series. 20.01.2022 Yesterday, Anita Heiss and Tamatha Luckhurst from our epic good team visited the TractionBuilds workshop at Alexandra Hills. Anita picked up her custom made bike, but not before the students did a safety check and gave it a test ride for her. Traction Builds is one of our partners and we support their empowering programs for youth in need. ... 19.01.2022 Next weekend Team Epic will run the Australian Outback Marathon hosted by Travelling Fit. There will be team members in each of the events: 6km, 11km half and full marathon, running to raise awareness and funds for our partner The Indigenous Literacy Foundation who deliver resources and literacy projects into more than 230 remote communities. Last night we had three new additions to our team including Wendy Gillett, Gisella Wilson and Felicity Corbin.... The players will be joined by Clontarf Academy staff as they take on the challenge of running the half or full marathon. 17.01.2022 Here is team member Flora or Mel Rogers, and in her own words she 'could not run from the couch to fridge in Feb 2018'. Now she is nervously gearing up for 11km. She is nothing if not versatile and wears her hoodie as a headpiece. Her 25 years as a teacher has seen her as a keen member of the EATSIPs committee an EQ framework with a key aim in making sure diverse perspectives are engaged in schools. NAIDOC week assemblies are her favourite planning! In her spare time she make...s beautiful millinery. OTLR is a program for players involved in sporting clubs, focusing on education and support in relation to their daily challenges. The young men and women who participate in this program will take away many tools to ensure personal and professional development.... OTLR offers support in a wide range of current challenges such as suicide intervention, mental health, drugs, alcohol and domestic violence. 11.01.2022 We are delighted to announce that Ringwood Cricket Club player Clayton Henderson has been named as the recipient of the Giles Foster Scholarship for 2020 and in April will fly over for the English summer of cricket to play at Great Preston CricketClub. Now in its sixth year, the Giles Foster Scholarship is a leadership role that also provides recipients with a broader experience and personal development off the field. 07.01.2022 Epic Good is delighted to extend our partnership with Hawthorn Football Club that will see the Hawthorn Indigenous Program develop further. The next five years of the Epic Good partnership will seek to create Indigenous employment opportunities, grow Indigenous participation in sport, promote healthy lifestyle changes, school attendance and retention and foster reconciliation nationally. Congratulations to Angela Burt who has been appointed to the newly created role of Indigenous Development Manager, who will ensure that the work undertaken is culturally appropriate and responsive to the needs of Indigenous communities. The celebrations will feature performances by a group of students from Worawa College, who will be launching their new book, 'Deadly Sisters of Worowa'. 04.01.2022 Congratulations to The Indigenous Marathon Foundation graduate Zibeon Fielding and Epic Good mentor Stuart Giles on completing the Tokyo Marathon last Sunday! Zibeon, an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, is running to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle with a goal of raising $30,000 to build a community gym for his people in his hometown of Mimili on the APY Lands in remote South Australia. After returning from Tokyo, he will begin training for his bigg...est endurance challenge yet: an epic seven-day bike ride across 700km of Australias harshest terrain as he seeks to become the first man to ride around the entire APY Lands, from the Stuart Highway in South Australia, along the outskirts of the Northern Territory, and cruising past the Western Australia border, back to his hometown. It was a celebration of a new literacy project with out partners - the Hawthorn Football Club The Indigenous Literacy Foundation and Worawa Aboriginal College.
