25.01.2022 Hi everyone, The NDJCA has released details this morning for the Association rep cricket trials later this month for the coming season. Please see details below, including a link to register.... Please note the trials will take place over 3 weekends - 16th, 23rd and 30th of August.

25.01.2022 Congratulations to all the players in our two Premier teams this season. Both our U12’s and U13 East Warriors finished on top of their competitions and were ready to play for the titles in what would have been terrific matches. Unfortunately the weather over last weekend had other ideas and all cricket was abandoned. Under the Association rules the highest placed team are declared Premiers.... Whilst it’s was very disappointing to not play the finals on the field, the reward is there for the teams after their excellent and consistent seasons. Congratulations and thank you to Nilantha, Anthony, Paul and Daya on your tremendous efforts acriss the season. Thank you also to the parents and families for their support and dedication to make the seasons a success. Iain

20.01.2022 WECC U11 Blue 104/8 def Carlingford Waratahs white 88/7. Bit of a delayed start for the game this morning as previous game was running behind. Captain Nevin won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. Overcast sky and touch wet outfield was assisting the fielding side so the boys managed to capitalise on it from the outset. Sharp fielding from Eric with three direct hit runouts was a major highlight of our fielding innings. Followed by another direct hit fr...om Shawn and spectacular fielding effort by Ravindu causing a runout brought the runouts tally up to 5. Eric and Vivaan managed to capture a wicket each and both Shawn and Ashmith were tidy behind the wicket. Openers Shawn and Aarush walked in chasing a moderate score but did not get the start we expected as two wickets fell in quick succession. However, Shawn started hitting a few boundaries and Aarush picking up quick singles put the pressure back on the fielding side. Nevin did some damage control by scoring sensibly without losing his wicket. However, we kept losing a few too many wickets in the middle overs. Ashimth showed maturity as he played a dogged innings steadying the ship. Both Vivaan and Ravindu played ever so sensibly as we had our nose just ahead of the opposition. These three boys played selfless innings as they put team win before their personal scores. As we are now walking into the last few weeks in the season seems that the boys are stepping up to occasions and starting to read the dynamics of the game better. Happy to see that boys are learning the vital mental skills as well which will elevate them to another level.

20.01.2022 Good Luck to all of our WECC teams for tomorrow’s games!

19.01.2022 2nd ODI @10pm tonight! Go Aussies

18.01.2022 Good luck to all WECC players today!

18.01.2022 If you’re playing today...

18.01.2022 WECC U10 Red lost the toss and batted first and scored 161 against Carlingford Green, with Aaron top scoring. In what was a tight match, Carlingford District chased down our score but only reached 142. The difference was the fielding from the boys, which netted them many run-outs which got us over line. Both sides almost got hatricks, making an entertaining match!!!

17.01.2022 Our Junior Blasters kids (Milo) testing their skills with what they've learnt playing a game of Diamond Cricket & 'Real' Mini Cricket. Goooo Kids

13.01.2022 Master Blasters U8/9 WECC Gold vs West Ryde Red A tough day for the boys @Roselea Park. Irush scored 11 not out and Thaveesha supported with 10 runs. Ayushmann took a brilliant catch at square-leg. Better luck next week team!...

13.01.2022 The WECC U13s had a win against St Pats College After losing the toss WECC bowled first and Vihaan opened the bowling with beautiful line and length for the figures of 4-0 off his two overs including being on a hat trick with a very close not out LBW decision off the hat trick ball. Ojas opened the bowling and bowled beautifully from the other end with figures of 1-3 off his two overs. All bowlers bowled well and the fielding and catching was of a very high s...tandard. Other bowlers to take wickets were Michael (1-0 off two overs), James (1-4 off two overs), Viraat (2-0 off two overs) and Adam (1-3 off 1.4 overs). Catches were taken by Charlie, Viraat, Oliver, James and Vihaan. St Pats were bowled out for 26 off 15.4 overs. Viraat and Nick opened the batting and unfortunately were both out early to spirited bowling defending a low target by St Pats. Adam steadied the innings before unfortunately being caught by a good catch at deep mid on. James and Dan being the not out batsmen with the winning score being 3-28 off 6.5 overs. The game was played in great spirit by both sides.

13.01.2022 U15 boys registrations NOW open! For past, present & new players dont regret it by missing out- sign up ASAP! Games start soon...

12.01.2022 Good luck also to our 2 girls teams who have played in the Parramatta Association’s Girls League Stage 1 competition. The season wraps up this weekend, it’s been brilliant to see the Girls enjoy their cricket over the last 2 months (and previous seasons for many of the girls). Fabulous work Matt, Julie and Adrian to make this such a success.... Lots more to come for girls cricket at West Epping.

12.01.2022 Love this! Enjoy your games tomorrow!

11.01.2022 WECC U10 Blue 9/113 defeated by Epping District Red 9/145 Another win of the toss gave us the opportunity to field first on the long damp grass at Smalls Rd. Straighter bowling was our focus this week and it was on show with Jonah and Jason each delivering three overs completely free of wides and no balls. Nice line and length from Jonah resulted in 2 wickets and he was unlucky to be taken for runs off middle stump several times. Wickets were also collected by Hadi, T...arun and Aryan with the help of great fielding. Players and spectators were stunned by Aakashs reflex catch as he had a split second to react to a ball destined for the point boundary. His first catch of the season was made possible by being alert and ready in the field. The next over Matthew showed how much our catching has improved, using perfect technique and judgement to take a high, fast spinning ball. The team had one of our most exciting moments of the season, taking a team hat trick. It started with a run out by Matthew followed by a hit wicket caused by the pressure of Aryans straight bowling. With expectations high we could have succumbed to the pressure, but the hat trick was completed with a direct hit from point by Jason; his second for the innings. Excellent keeping by Matthew saw only 2 byes in his 10 overs. He was followed by Arnav, and combined they kept byes to just 9 for the entire game, a huge improvement on our last match. Matthew rounded off an exceptional game in the field with two run outs. There was a lot to like about the effort which resulted in 9 wickets and some great all-round cricket. But we also knew we could have had a few more run outs with several throws going astray and others not taken cleanly at the stumps. Our batting looked good at times, but we didnt get the results we are capable of. Three avoidable run outs put us on the back foot and increased the pressure to score. As the innings went on our batters refined their timing. We saw better running between wickets, shifting the pressure back to our opposition, and powerful fours from Hadi (11), Arnav (13) & Jonah (15) gave us a chance to get back in the match. Although we didnt chase down the target, our players really enjoyed a match which had numerous personal achievements and featured the team-bonding high of a hat-trick.

11.01.2022 NDCA update regarding cricket tomorrow.

11.01.2022 How good do our new WECC shades look?!!

11.01.2022 Lets go Aussies! T20 vs England. Were bowling first

10.01.2022 WECC U11 Red 4/141 def Epping District 10/131 After losing several weeks to rain, wet grounds, excessive heat, a bye and virus shutdown it was great to finally get a cricket match in. It was touch and go as rain looked to ruin everything, but by 10:30 it had eased off and we started play. Missing a few players due to band camp and injury, young Mitch filled in for us and Epping District also loaned us a fielder. Tyagarah field was in pretty good condition and made fo...r a high-scoring game. Aaryan opened the bowling and returned figures of 3/27 off 4, but it wasn't until the 8th over when Sebastian took our first wicket. Sebastian saved his best bowling performance for last 3/23 off 4, with only one no ball adding to extras. Augie was keeper for the first 10 overs swapping with Sam who took a catch behind off Marcus who returned 1/31 off 4. Sam was very economical with 0/11 off 4. Augie found the edge a few times but the fast outfield meant they went for 4. He returned 3/20 off 4 including a wicket with the last ball of the innings. Sam and Marcus opened the batting and Sam improved on his last innings (season-best score of 26) with an unbeaten 36 runs, including 6 fours. Marcus scored 11 and Sebastian 12. Aaryan (20) and Augie (38) took plenty of quick singles while still managing a few boundaries. Augie equalled his season top score with 38. It pleased the coach that only 4 wickets were lost although there is still some improvement needed in run-calling. A great way to finish the season, and hope to see everyone back for next summer.

09.01.2022 WECC Under 10 Blue 9/96 defeated by Epping District White 5/134. After the run of bad luck weve all had this year, our expectations were low when we arrived in drizzling rain to see the earlier match had been washed out. But with so little cricket played in 2020 we were keen to get on, so when the rain stopped we jumped at the chance to play. Let me set the scene. Our more experienced opposition has only lost twice all season and when we played them in round two they g...ave us a cricket lesson, defeating us 224 to 95, taking 16 of our wickets in the process. Not today. The score shows the extent of our improvement as a team this season. Hadi set the tone early with a wicket second ball of the innings and picked up another with a hooping in-swinger in his second over. He finished his spell in style, fielding off his own bowling and winning the race to the stumps to effect a run out. Aakash delivered three overs without conceding any extras and Arnav kept the batters under pressure, bowling more than 50% dot balls. When Jason came out from behind the stumps he took a wicket with his first ball. He sent down three overs of mostly unplayable deliveries, often swinging from outside off stump to just miss leg! Our recent fielding practice paid off when the opposition tried to steal a bye, only to see Jonah throw down the stumps from fine leg. At other times great backing up by Matthew and Jason prevented several overthrows. We went to the break having restricted a strong team to just 75 runs off the bat. Our opening pairing of Jonah and Matthew had a tough task. Faced with express bowling which swung in both directions, they did extremely well to frustrate the bowlers whilst picking up a few runs along the way. Our middle order continued the stout defence but the swinging ball was a challenge. Aakash took several hits to the body, refusing to shy away, and Jasons defensive style drew multiple compliments from an encouraging umpire who could see what our batters had to contend with. When Arnav joined Hadi at the crease the scoring rate jumped dramatically. Hadis straight driving was a treat, and his 13 runs included a flashing four through point. Arnav equalled his (and the teams) highest individual score for the season with 22 runs. His four 4s went to all parts of the ground. Tarun played his role perfectly to get in behind the ball and keep their bowlers out, meaning they went wicketless for the final 5 overs. Whilst this was never going to be an easy game to win, the size of our improvement from our previous match-up was a win in itself. We reduced the oppositions score by 90 runs and wickets dropped from 16 to 9. Im sure our boys very much appreciate the efforts of all parents who have helped at training, supported at the games, and fulfilled all the challenging roles of managing, scoring, coaching and helping with equipment. Were all looking forward to next season already!

09.01.2022 Congrats Aussies!!! #T20WorldCup

08.01.2022 Master Blasters U8/9 WECC Gold vs Carlingford Waratah Green Bad luck for the boys @Roselea Park. Thaveesha was the top scorer with 35 runs and Lemi supported him with 12 runs. Bowling and fielding were good. They took 4 wickets . ... Better luck next week!

06.01.2022 Cricket Australia and Cricket NSW today made the decision to stop all cricket competitions immediately. As such NDJCA have made the decision to end the Junior competitions effective from last weekends round. I have included the statement below: Cricket NSW, Premier & Community Cricket Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update... Cricket NSW, with support from the Sydney Cricket Association, NSW Districts Cricket Association and NSW Country Cricket Association, fully support CAs strong recommendation to immediately stop playing cricket at all levels for the remainder of the season based on medical advice. Today, Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon, SCA Chairman Graham Gorrie, DCA Chairman Morris Iemma and Country Cricket Chairman Paul Marjoribanks unanimously agreed to halt their competitions. They have also strongly agreed that all other associations and competitions across NSW should cancel their remaining matches. McDonalds NSW Premier Cricket titles will be awarded to the Minor Premier in each grade with Randwick Petersham claiming the Mens First Grade title and Sydney the Womens First Grade title. Other associations will make decisions in due course. Mr Germon said the decision is in line with expert advice from Cricket Australias Chief Medical Officer Dr John Orchard. The welfare of all our players, officials, volunteers and staff is paramount, Mr Germon said. It is important that we do everything we can to look after our broader cricket community and contribute to the global effort to slow, and eventually stop, the spread of Coronavirus. As such, I have no doubt that all cricket should be cancelled and that all clubs and associations need to seriously consider the cancellation or postponement of end of season functions. For any further information, please read our FAQs below. https://www.community.cricket.com.au//policies/covid-19-faq

05.01.2022 West Ryde Red U11 128/9 beat WECC Blue U11 98/9 Opening batsman Shawn and Aarush walked into bat after the opposition captain invited us to bat first. Wet outfield and damp pitch from the overnight heavy dew was not ideal conditions for the batsmen. Pretty much all the batsmen struggled to get a wriggle on as the ball was skidding on and staying low. However they all managed to score some important runs giving them a fighting chance. Our boys too managed to capita...lize on the wet pitch conditions by taking early wickets. Captian Ravindu, Nevin, Vivaan and Ashimith claimed 1 wicket each in their opening spells and both Shawn and Aarush captured two wickets each. Game went deep into the last overs as our boys did good fielding keeping the batsmen on check. However, one of their stronger batsmen took the game away from us but all in all excellent performance by the boys against the top team of the competition. One more game left for us in the tournament and I am pretty sure boys will make a good comeback in the final match

01.01.2022 WECC U12 Thunder 4/83 defeated West Ryde Blue 5/82 With yesterdays game cut short due to an extreme slippery pitch the boys took it in their stride and came out again today- fresh and ready to go. Thanks so much parents!!! Our captain Dhruv won the toss (as we did the day before) and chose well to send the opposition into bat! ... Good fielding and bowling saw us contain the score to just 82 runs-even better than yesterday! The batting started slow and 3 wickets went quickly. However the boys then rose to the occasion, slowed down, chose their shots well, took easy singles and got the job done!!! Boys, parents, manager and coach are ecstatic the boys now get to play another game of cricket next Saturday in their first ever Grand Final! A special mention for Aidan who held the wicket keeper position for the entire game and nailed it! Finally a massive shout out to Shawn and Nevin (and their awesome parents) from one of our WECC U11 teams who helped us have 9 players on the field due to a few of the boys attending a school camp. Thanks for all of your support!

01.01.2022 Please see below a release from Cricket NSW. Lets use common sense across our games this weekend, be respectful and play some good cricket. Good luck to all teams this weekend.

01.01.2022 It was 3rd place Dundas Blue versus 4th place WECC Gold U12. We had to win to remain in 4th place and have a great chance to play finals. After a terrific run of 8 wins in row to the end of last year, 2020 has been a tough start for our team having to deal with injuries, unavailability, wet weather and extreme heatwave. Winning the toss we decided to bowl.... Injury had meant WECC under 11 player, Augie who had a bye this week, replaced Oliver at short notice. Augie took an early wicket and bowled superbly, also taking a catch! Dundas put on a 42 run 2nd wicket partnership and both batters retired after facing the mandatory 35 balls. They were on top. But once again our bowling and fielding, our strength when we need it, came to the front and we took 7-22 to dismiss Dundas for 66 in 20.4 overs of the allotted 30. Ryan bowled with cunning to take 2-5 with Josh, Toby and Hamish each chipping in for a wicket. Two run outs helped the cause with Matteo's dive and throw to the keeper in one motion being the highlight. We had experienced that small totals are difficult to chase at Ollie Webb and this was no different. Charlie got us off to a solid start and crucially retired after 35 balls not out. Wickets fell regularly and at 4-42 we felt nervous and things got worse when Charlie rejoined Josh out in the in the middle at 7-48 still requiring 19 for the win but with only 1 wicket in hand . Dundas were closing in on a remarkable victory. Josh 12 n.o and Charlie 21 n.o batted with patience and maturity passing the total with 2 overs to spare in a nailbiter that had all the parents on the edge of their seats. We have been a bit unlucky in the games we have played this year but yesterday that changed and hopefully our good fortune continues into the finals.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, A reminder about these upcoming sessions in the holiday period. Winter sports are starting soon, but cricket season is not that far away.
