25.01.2022 Most if not all of these principles justify keeping horse management simple and prioritising thorough horse training.

24.01.2022 I love this image... It shows just how vulnerable the young horses skeleton is. Look how long it takes for the lower jaw & poll to mature.... We put bits in young mouths & in some cases force their bodies into an outline way before their skeletons have matured.

04.01.2022 The Importance of That Old Horse The longer I work with young/green/problem horses, the more I come to value my old horse. My buckskin mare is 20 this year. She...s getting a little arthritic, she doesnt move quite as quick, and shes a whole lot more easy going than she was 11 years ago when I brought her home. Ive seen a lot of other horse owners ride a horse to this point and then send them down the road once they start showing their age. Ive also seen a lot of people pass over a 15 year old horse because Well hes just so old! They dont seem to realize the importance of that old horse. See, she might need some maintenance to keep scooting down the trail, but I can take clients whove lost their confidence anywhere on her and never need to worry. She might not like to run hard all day like she did, but when Im ponying a two year old, or riding a green horse by her, I can count on her to keep a level head and keep those young ones grounded. I might get too heavy for her some day, but I know when that happens, there will be another little girl or boy that wants to ride with me, and I can trust my old horse to introduce them to the beauty and excitement of horses. Never forget the importance and the value of That Old Horse.

02.01.2022 PLEASE, DONT ride horses UNDER 5 years.., leave it longer if you can - for their health. Train from the ground using learning theory to shape all the behaviour ...you want. The foundation movements - STOP, GO, BACK, TURN LEFT & RIGHT. Go slow go faster (yes you might have to run too!). PREPARATION is key to an amazing riding horse - theres a lot you can do from the ground and leading from another horse to expose them to many situations. 02.01.2022 How to move a round bale without shredding the outside. I came up with this idea when I was single and decided to work smarter rather than harder! Long straight crowbar, rope, clip, two rubber things from Bunnings plumbing Dept (dont know what they are called or for) and ride on mower. Done! As you can see from the video, it works a treat! And cheap too
